  1. Really? I felt like I could run the Boston marathon:lol: My DH can drink caffeine and it barely affects him. He can drink some before bed and fall right asleep. :001_huh:
  2. Unfortunately, I have had seen this around the web a lot. I'm sorry you are going thru this and I hope it is resolved very quickly.
  3. I LOVE the look of their book packs! You have tempted me.
  4.:lol::lol::smash::smash: WOW! I'm just all kinds of "off" the past few days. Good Heavens:tongue_smilie:
  5. If you don't like coffee, you might want to try 5 1/2 hour energy. It's a blend of B-vitamins, amino acids, essential nutrients, has zero sugar, zero herbal stimulants (and only 4 calories). Plus, you won't crash as with other "energy" drinks like Red Bull. It sounds like you might be fine with a 1/2 a bottle or a bit less (they are small). They don't taste the best, but they really work!
  6. I looked this up and it gave an option to pay "tuition". Is that what I pay for the items?
  7. Great to know!! I was going from TWTM and wasn't sure if resources were included with SOTW.
  8. This is my first year H'schooling:) Is Chemistry a good place to start?
  9. My post was clear as mud right? In The Well Trained Mind 3rd ed. book, it lists resources/suggestions for books and/or craft kits for the grammar stage that coordinate with SOTW1. Quite a bit of the resources are OP and I'm curious as to whether the new edition or TWTM has replaced those OP items with things that are available.
  10. Yes or no? DS (1st) would be doing animals, body and nature. Should I just put her in that with him? Does it matter what area of science she studies right now?
  11. It was my understanding that the textbook, workbook and activities were all supposed to be used together in HOD to form a complete program.
  12. I highly doubt that the cps call sent her to the hospital. She obviously had issues way before that happened-a "healthy" person doesn't do the things she did. She needed help before cps came knocking. You did alter the family and you should be proud of yourself! If you hadn't of made that call, something worse-way worse-could have happened. Imagine how you would feel if you hadn't of made the call and one of them died, got kidnapped etc.? Those kids have a chance now and a father that loves them. You did the right thing:grouphug:
  13. *EDIT* I rewrote this post because it was very unclear;) You will see it rewritten below as a response to Christiana. 14. I finally got my copy of TWTM yesterday. We will be doing SOTW1 this year. I have a 1st grader and a 3rd grader. I'm looking for recommendations on the following: Plato, Aristotle, Confucius, Ancient Chinese and Japanese poetry, Cicero, and Virgil. Is there anything age appropriate out there on these topics that you have found?
  15. I read about this somewhere online at the end of summer. It looks SO neat!
  16. It may be possible that he isn't ready either. I have chosen to wait a bit with my 6 yo because he just wasn't picking it up. A lot of boys don't pick up on reading (even if they have phonics) until age 7 and up.
