  1. I tried looping a while back and posted about it.... http://iamaud.blogspot.com/2008/10/putting-my-loop-together.html
  2. I'm working on getting my dd through 4 & 5 this school year. She is working for 1 hour each day. At first she was getting 4 lessons done, now she's slowed to 2... which is fine, she should still have both done by the start of next school year.
  3. I guess that's what I'm having a hard time wrapping my brain around. :)
  4. Do you really get through MOH 2 in 9 weeks?
  5. For the shorter chapters we read it in one sitting. The longer stories (mainly the fairy tales) are spread over a couple of days. I am doing Year 1 with my ds7, btw. :)
  6. You're Welcome. :) I flip-flopped between LLATL (I also have a full set of the Older Edition) and PLL/ILL before I finally settled on PLL/ILL. :)
  7. This is our first year in a co-op, we start Sept 13 and go through Nov 15. My dc 5th and 4th grade are taking Apologia Zoology 3 and my ds 2nd grade is taking Apologia Astronomy. I understand that they will have things to do at home for the class... other than that, should we still "do" science? or would it be overkill? (That sounds jumbled... my late-night mind doesn't work well. :D)
  8. I really don't know. It would probably be too much work. My dd was using the new yellow book (TM and workbook) and I followed along with the Old Edition just to see how they compared. They really were almost identical. I suppose you *could* if you wanted to put some work into it... you wouldn't have the answers though, they are in the Revised TM. FWIW, I don't use LLATL anymore. My 5th grade dd is using only ILL. I find it to be plenty!
  9. I posted about the differences that I noticed. The one with the biggest difference is Red. The New version still includes a lot of phonics work. The older version doesn't have much phonics. As far as I can tell from Yellow and up there aren't any huge differences except for the book studies. (Older doesn't have them.)
  10. :iagree: I tried it when mine were younger and they hated it. Since then I've been (somewhat) patiently waiting until they were in 4th and 5th grade. (THIS YEAR!!! :001_smile:)
  11. Yes. :) I've had similar frustrations with the eye doctor... hang in there...
  12. Sugar cubes and icing... what could be more fun? :D
  13. I can't depend on my library either, that's why I bought most of the books. If you're looking into next year you could find some really good deals on books between now and then if you just keep your eyes open. :)
  14. Maybe you could tell him that you were taught wrong and you want to make sure that he learns the right way.
  15. I am doing AO Y1 with my 7yo. I spent about $100 at Amazon. It bothers my eyes to read from the computer, so I bought all of the books. I had a few that I got from Paperbackswap.com.
  16. We read Rome and loved every minute of it! This year we are using Middle Ages along with MOH.
  17. On the Singapore Math boards, the author stated that levels 1A/B and 2A are nearly identical. She suggested switching before you get to level 3. I owned 2B of both the US and STE. What STE did not cover in 2B was covered in STE 3A.
  18. From my research, if you're going to switch from US to STE you should do it at level 3. You'll be fine. :)
  19. I suppose you could jump around on the TT CDs. (There's nothing that makes you do the lessons in order.) If you're using it to supplement Saxon then you should be alright.
  20. Here's my post about the playdough we made. http://www.webmomz.com/resources_playdough.shtml What You Need 1 cup flour 1/4 cup salt 2 T cream of tartar 2 Tsp food coloring 1 T vegetable oil 1 cup water What to Do 1) Mix the flour, salt, and cream of tarter in a medium pot 2) Add water, food coloring and oil 3) Stir over medium heat for 3-5 minutes. Don't worry if the mixture looks like a lumpy mess; it's turn into dough 4) When the mixture forms a ball in the center of the pot, turn off the stove and let it cool. Then take it out of the pot and put it onto a floured surface. Knead it several times. 5) Store in the Ziploc bag or airtight container in the fridge.
  21. Thanks Beth!! I'm doing AO Y1 with my 2nd grader this year and we're using the Burgess Bird Book.
  22. That's an excellent time to buy a "partially used" book. :D
