  1. Here's ours! (on my blog that is linked in my signature). I have just started posting a weekly report, so I'm really excited!
  2. I have seen several threads on the forums that were labeled "X-Post" and I am just curious as to what this means? This is not an earth-shattering need, I would just like to know for my own information. Can anybody help me on this? TIA.:)
  3. Bible Gateway has audio Bible downloads in several versions. Here is the link to their site: http://www.biblegateway.com/resources/audio/ HTH!
  4. I have a ds13 who has a learning disability in language. He is reading on about a 4th grade reading level and he can copy a verse of scripture without much difficulty (he is able to do the copying, but it takes him a while). We have not really attempted dictation. He is still struggling with narration. He can do a 3-4 sentence oral narration from a section of a chapter from SOTW, but he requires several leading questions and assistance in organizing his sentences. This year, he did R&S grammar 2 with minimal to moderate assistance and he is through the majority of the book. I am wondering if FLL and WWE could be a good fit for him. If so, what level would you suggest as an appropriate starting place for him? Thanks in advance for your time.
  5. I'm not sure how you feel about television, but there is a product that Rainbow Resource Center sells called Write On! Printing DVD Tutor Kit. It is listed for PK-1. My dd4 is very visually oriented and I am planning to get this for her. Here is the link to the product page: http://www.rainbowresource.com/product/Write+on%21+Printing+DVD+Tutor+Kit/037731/1210243487-1585728 HTH!
  6. I would like to purchase a software program to make handwriting worksheets and I have heard good things about both of these. What are the differences and the pros and cons of each? Which would you pick?
  7. I appreciate all your input. From your posts, it sounds like this (or educational fontware?) would be a good fit for our family. A lot of the things you mentioned (memorization, copywork, letters to trace) sound like a lot of the things I would want from a handwriting program. I like the idea of being able to customize my handwriting lessons to what the children need at the time. I also like the idea of using the teacher's manual with startwrite to organize the handwriting program. Kelli in TN, could you tell me a little more about how that works?
  8. I have been browsing the StartWrite website and it looks very interesting to me. I am wondering if it could be used as a handwriting program by itself, or if I would still need to use a regular handwriting program. What do you think?
  9. Thank you for all of your input. I have lots to chew on now.
  10. I would like to start my dd4 in a handwriting program. She can write a lot of her letters on unlined paper, and when I wrote some letters on lined paper for her to trace the other day, she seemed to enjoy it very well, even though she didn't want to make a lot of copies of each letter. I have looked at the websites of Italics and RFH and I still am having a hard time deciding. On the one hand, I think the italic handwriting is beautiful and I would love to see my daughter's handwriting look like that. I also like the fact that print to cursive would be an easy transition. On the other hand, I really like the scriptural emphasis of RFH and the fact that it would be a lot easier to find supplements for this program. What have your experiences been with these programs? What are the pros and cons of each? Which would you suggest?
  11. What a neat activity. I wish I could give you more rep points for it. :001_smile:
  12. Your reports are lovely! I hope to be able to post weekly reports from my blog soon, too.:)
  13. Personally, I disagree with the way that these projects at the public school were handled. I don't think a child should be required to do any kind of project that they aren't developmentally ready for and that they aren't first taught step-by step how to do. They should probably be assigned the project in lots of little chunks in which they are first given instruction and practice. this could then culminate in the larger project at the end of the quarter or semester. If projects are approached this way, the parent wouldn't have to do so much of the project for them. If the child is not doing the project himself, I don't see how he could really learn anything from it. If he isn't learning anything from it, it seems to me that the school is just wasting his time.
  14. I plan to use RS math A & B in the fall with my dc. I am wondering if SL's Mathtacular DVD's would be an acceptable supplement to this program. Has anyone used both of these?
  15. I think I will just keep on self-educating, try to stay connected to the homeschooling community, and hopefully someday help homeschool my grandkids!:)
  16. Mine has been and will be filled with researching, planning and shopping for curriculum.
  17. We love the series that was made from Janette Oke's books. These are the titles we've seen: Love Comes Softly Love's Enduring Promise Love's Long Journey Love's Abiding Joy Love's Unending Legacy The next movie in the series, Love's Unfolding Dream, is supposed to be coming out this month, I think. I can't wait to see it!
  18. My dd4 LOVES coffee. I try to give it to her weakened down with lots of milk, but sometimes she sneaks some of mine.
  19. We are planning to use RightStart math and maybe supplement with singapore
