  1. Latin Centered- Curriculum http://latincentered.com/ :)
  2. I am hoping some folks will chime in... I am considering this for *myself*! I plan to do it while the others do their handwriting. It looks beautiful.
  3. (((Beth))) 11 yr. aspie too..... just wanted to give you a virtual hug and a "oh, yeah, we are there too". Hang in there!!!! You are the perfect mom for your boy, or he would not be there with you. I read all your posts (some over and over- you have helped me many times -thanks!) and I think you are doing a great job!
  4. Oh! I did not realize this was Classical Academic Press! Interesting~ I am going to check this out.
  5. Do you have a link for Latin Alive? All I am coming up with is dance videos!
  6. I have had a box for a year, and did not notice any deterioration, but I have no idea if it would last more than that. There is no expiration date on any of the products I have here. Their phone# is: 1-800-477-0188. HTH! DO you use BioKleen regularly? You might want to try it our first, if you haven't already. :)
  7. Thanks, that's good to know. I really like the look of Latin Prep, but it looks like it would be beneficial to do a more "elementary" program first.... and maybe it would give me a little more time to learn Latin myself.
  8. This really caught my eye. My son (11) has LD's, and I am trying to figure what would be good for him, and what to do for daughter (9). I am encouraged to see that two different programs can be done simultaneously!
  9. We do it differently. We have a set amount of time for math, so on some concepts the kids do an entire lesson in that time period (meaning they really get it!) and on other concepts they might not even finish a complete page. They used to be so focused on completing their allotted amount of work that I am finding greater accuracy now that they know they will be doing math until X o'clock, regardless of how many pages they did. That means they are all on different lessons, but since MUS has such a different scope anyway I am not worried about that. As long as they finish finish Zeta before 6th we are OK. If it looks like we are falling short, I increase the time per day. We supplement with worksheets (generated from the MUS site) and we do some developmental math when we need a break.
  10. Mama Lynx: What do you consider basic familiarity? I don't want to jinx the whole endeavor by starting out too fast!
  11. OK, this is really helpful. I think I am slowly grasping the difference between the programs. I have three different kinds of learners, which adds to the fun!
  12. Thanks for that link! I have been debating the purchase for a few reasons, and the PDF about the new edition helped me decide. I will purchase Tuesday! (so now y'all can't feel so bad, as you will all have it memorized before I even get mine!)
  13. I have been researching old posts re: Latin curriculum choices. I am having difficulty determining which programs are 'beginner' and which are 'intermediate'. (For example, some of you are doing Latin prep *after* LCII, others are starting with it much earlier, etc.) So I think what I am wanting to know is this: What is your Latin "pathway" or progression? Meaning- What did you start with, then what are you doing, and finally what do you plan to do next? I hope to do Latin through High School (oldest are in grade 5 next year, with no Latin experience) and want get the foundation right. (Also, thanks for all your past posts on the subject- I am learning so much!)
  14. That's a great layout, jessica! I am going to do this for myself also... jsut to make sure we come out where I want in the end. Thanks!
  15. I was just reading old posts about Latin choices (again!) and found a great comparison link: http://www.redshift.com/~bonajo/latincurricula.htm This was posted by Plaid Dad to a similar question. Thanks!
  16. I unserstand the "folding"part. My solution was to do TOG1 in 1st/4th, and then we'll be stretching TOG 2 for 2 years. I have seen TOG Yr 2 and wow- it's very full. Then we'll be on a more correct rotation for the olders. I will most likely do Yr. 2 in one year when we return to it. Those are just plans, though, and you know the way of plans!!
  17. I am so glad you are asking this, as I am starting Latin with dd9 and ds11 next year also! I have been reading old posts, but that made me even more confused! :tongue_smilie:
  18. Ya Know, I thought the same thing. I wonder if the previews are different for different show times? Seems like the matinee previews are much better, but that theory has not been rigorously tested by me.
  19. Basically this is history, literature, reading, geography, writing, bible/church history and fine arts all woven together. In the upper stages (high school) it is also philosophy and government. It is so full that I use it as the "core" of my day, and use other sources for grammar, math, science and foreign language. That is as simple as I can get it! My best ever advice is to download the 3 week sample and actually use it for 3 weeks. I have also learned that I do better when ordering the Curriculum (without extras and books) first... after a few days to weeks of poking around the curriculum I make better choices about which books/extras to buy. HTH! We really love TOG, and are excited about using it another year.
  20. Oh we LOVE our MAC! (and yes, I am shouting!). We have a PowerBook G4, and that poor thing is used so hard every day. I can't wait to upgrade! I would never use anything else. NEVER!
  21. I found a great stylist by looking at ladies in the grocery store and other places, and asking them who cut their hair. When I found a woman who's eyes just lit up at the question, and she had an amazing cut (though not my style) I knew I needed to try her stylist. Now I just go in and let the stylist do whatever she wants... she is that great. The bob (and versions of it) is the hottest cut going- and you would look great in one!
  22. Ooooh! Ooooh! I just ordered this, as well as Nordic Naturals cod liver oil, a few days ago! I plan to do the 3-6-9 in the a.m. and the C.L.O. in the afternoon. I am so very ready for it to get here, but they informed me that the 3-6-9 is backordered. Grrrrrr. We need it yesterday... can you tell I am expecting great things from this?:tongue_smilie:
