  1. Have you considered not making contact until your son initiates it? I would state what SKL recommends but I would leave the last line out. Keeping in contact is too commital. Your son may never want to see them.
  2. I just bought this: http://m.themountain.com/item/31303737375f323234362d3131303234 And this: http://m.themountain.com/item/3133343930 I am 53 and will wear them for decades, I jope.
  3. Oh..... I remember she was on ativan and seroquel among others. She had Lewy Body Dementia. Horrible, horrible disease.
  4. Also, there are adult day programs she can go to. I considered one at Easter Seals but never sent her. After my dad died, I moved her i to my home and cared for her until she died... in my home. If you notice a sudden increase in symptoms or that she is sleeping all the timenand you can't wake her, it is likely a UTI. People qith this horrific disease are prone to them. Joules, my mom lived with me many years ago. I don't remember which meds she was on but I know she was on anti anxiety meds and others. Proper treatment is imperative. It can slow the disease and help better control the symptoms.
  5. As far as meds, IF they can be crushed (not all can be) the food route would ve the way to go.
  6. Check into an Angel Guard. She likely couldn't escape one of these. I used them on an autistic client I used to work with.
  7. BTW, if you hire through an agency, you will pay more money BUT they all have been back ground checked and have clean driving records.
  8. Ok still reading. First of all, it is illegal to lock her in her house. The likelihood of her turning on thenstove or starting a fire and her not being able to escape is reason enough not to ever consider this, but again, it is illegal. Secondly, Fox News (BLECH!) is not the cause of her paranoia. It is a stage of the disease. At this stage my father had to have my mother admitted to a geriatric psyche ward for medication changes and adjustments. As sad as it was, it was the best thing for everyone including her. Once she was properly medicated, the paranoia went away. My mom was calling the police, banging on neighbor's doors at all hours, etc. I had to go sit with her just so my dad could take a shower. Visiting Angels and Hospice also have personal care providers and LNA's they can send to the house. You might want to call a social worker to see what services your mil qualifies for. If they have plenty of money, they may have to pay out of pocket, at least for some of it. Your FIL needs to understand that he can never leave his wife alone again.
  9. All that to say, I don't care what testing says. I know wheat makes me sick.
  10. I tested negative for celiacs twice, and I have no allergy or sensitivity to wheat. I was tested for both. Still, my body can NOT handle it. FWIW, I thought all these gluten issues were simply the newest fad and was highly suspect. My body tells me differently. I have a special needs adult living with me. She has to follow the low FODMOP diet. I do not, but my only issues cone from wheat.
  11. I had my mother's urine cultured several times. The results showes that the type of meds prescrived were not meds to help. Do everything you can naturally to prevent them.
  12. I meant withold the non prescribed food. It is what my vet suggested and she said to call if the cat wouldn't eat it. I force fesbit with a syringe for a day before she took it on her own
  13. Oh, and my cat's fecal exam was negative for anything
  14. If his stomach is upset, I would withdraw all food other than what the vet prescribed for belly issues. I went through this recently. It took a couple days for the car ro eaf, but she was on antibiotics which helped jer to feel better. IMO an xray wasn't enough. Bloodworj should have been done. After several treatments of sublingual fluid, antibiotics and prescribed food, the cat was back to normal within a week but treatment kept up for another week. My cat was bleeding from the rectum, gad explosive diarrhea, and lost a TON of weight and collapsed. I didn't think she'd survive. She is a barn cat and was miserable in the home. She is once again thriving. We will never know what happened to he. Did she eat a bad animal? Did she get into something? The bloodwork was more telling than the xrays
  15. Igh, that poor woman. My stomach is all twisted up with concern for her. I admire you for standing up and doing what is right. Well, what I think, or thought, was right before reading this thread. It has been eye opening and thought provoking for sure.
  16. My daughter has always dressed modestly and has been EXTREMELY difficult to shop for due to her height and qeiggt, which are more proportional now. She is 5'11 and qeighs 132 lbs but was always skinnier than she should be, making finding the length qe desperately needed very difficult. Still, she has found PLENTY of clothing in all sorts of stores weiring junior conservative clothing. At had wver fit her.no time in her life would a petite
  17. Did you three ever try to discuss this with your no boundary parent?
  18. I always wonder how a parent coukd allow their child to be continually subject to this kind of treatment. I would definitely pull my kid from school and never allow them to return. Then I feel badly for thinking these thoughts, and repeat them again when another story comes out. I just don't understand sending their kid into such a horrible, harsh environment day after day, yet my heart breaks for those parents. Yes, I am conflicted.
  19. IMO, Zarah is no friend at all. What she did to you is complete crap. YOU deserve better. I still think the wife deserves to know.
  20. I can't help but wonder if Xena ever even read the PM.
  21. I have hypoglycemia. I have done none and low carb and what helps the night time hunger most for me is to limit my carbs to dinner, and that does not mean to eat a ton of carbs. If I am hungry at n8ght, I eat nuts. I always have a variety of raw and roasted on hand.
  22. There was a recent thread that aaked about Fancy Feast. Is that the one you are speaking of?
  23. I wonder if the broth packs or the Honest Kitchen top dressings would help? Do you have to switch cold turkey for health reasons? If not, a gradual transition works better. My barn cat was put on a prescription diet after she collapsed and I couldn't add anything to it because she was so sick I didn't think she'd survive. I switched the food 100% and she went without eating for a bit (2 days?) and then was too hungry not to eat as she got healthier.
