  1. I wonder how many kids who build bombs proudly show them off to their teachers.
  2. But the thing is, that doesn't matter. If the teacher truly thought it was a bomb, why wouldn't she pull the fire alarm, evacuate the school, and call the authorities? Why in the world would any rational person put anything that might be a bomb into her desk and continue to conduct classes all day long? She's either really, really dumb, or she did not really think it was a bomb.
  3. Financial aid and student loans. Lots and lots of student loans. :blushing:
  4. My son lives in Fergus Falls. :)
  5. This is the very first time I've been able to click "Master's" degree. My last class is finishing up this week, and since I have a 3.9 GPA, I think it's safe to say I've passed and my degree will be conferred. So yeah...I have a Master's degree! :D
  6. Well that's just ridiculous. And then in nearly the same breath (it seems) she claims women are "toddlers" still finding their way in the world? What idiocy. She does not speak for me, thankyouverymuch.
  7. I get annoyed just THINKING about whatever nonsense she might pull. I'm fairly certain, however, that she won't be content to just go in, sit at her desk, and get back to work while her deputy clerks handle the marriage licenses. No, that would be far too dull and mundane after her brush with celebrity. *sigh*
  8. Go, Denver! :D My Seahawks bummed me out, so the Broncos need to help me recover.
  9. Interesting. On a recent episode of Deadliest Catch, one of the captains officiated the wedding of one of his crew members on board the boat.
  10. This whole thing makes me feel pretty bad for the employers. From what I'm understanding, any employee can suddenly decide that they need "accommodation" for this or that reason, and the employer has to offer them something else instead of just telling them, "Well, sorry. If you can't do the job we hired you for, we'll need to let you go."
  11. That's what I'm saying. I know why they WOULD. But there seems to be a lot of attitude going around (in general; not here) that employers MUST accommodate, and I'm wondering why.
  12. I'm really kind of confused as to why an employer HAS to accommodate at all. Yes, it's good business to treat employees well and try to keep them happy. But at the end of the day, the employer has a business to run. Why do they HAVE to accommodate anyone?
  13. Why? It's the employee who has the problem doing her job. Why should that be the employer's problem? Having a job is not a right.
  14. But if accommodation cannot be made that is acceptable to both employer and employee, and the employment relationship is severed, does the employee then need to go and sue the employer? No. That's ridiculous.
  15. OT- I LOVE Dean doing "Eye of the Tiger." Cracks me up every time.
  16. I disagree. Serving drinks is part of the job. If she can't (or won't) do part of the job, then she needs to find a different job. This one is obviously not a good fit for her.
  17. I hope you don't mean from me. I have no problem with anyone's choice of religion (or lack thereof). I just don't think that religion should be a reason not to do one's job. If one has a moral objection to a job (or part of a job), he or she needs to find a new job, one that he or she can do in good conscience, rather than demand that the job be changed to suit the individual.
  18. That sounds like a logistical nightmare to me, especially when other employees starting coming up with their own demands of what they will and won't do.
  19. http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/2015/09/07/muslim-flight-attendant-suspended/71852754/ "A Muslim flight attendant said the Atlanta-based airline ExpressJet suspended her for refusing to serve alcohol, a practice that is against her religious beliefs. Charee Stanley filed a discrimination complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission last week, saying she wants to do her job without serving alcohol, as she was doing before her suspension, her lawyer said." Apparently she was avoiding that part of her job, but now her coworkers have gotten tired of picking up her slack and doing that part of her job for her. So now she's suing on religious grounds. And here we go....
  20. My DD (SFX make up hobbyist) says to try styrofoam and safety pins and/or velcro to attach them. Clay would probably be too heavy. ETA: DD says the styrofoam would also give them some texture when painted.
  21. Seems appropriate to share this again. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pR9gyloyOjM
