  1. Yes I have been looking for something like this for a long time! Wish MP had it for more than just K and 1st. Thanks for the info. So Animals, Animals and A Child's Book of Poems is the poetry part? I guess I thought Animals, Animals was the science part. My next question is I have a dd3, dd4, and ds 6, I was only wanting to buy one guide, would you think the 1st grade one would work for them?
  2. I am really wanting to buy the memoria press 1st grade enrichment guide, however I do not want to buy the read alouds that would go with it $$$$. Would I be able to find the books in a small library or are the titles difficult ones to find? What about for the science, art, poetry sections as well? Can I get by just buying the guide is my main question? Thanks
  3. Over the years I have purchased several different curriculum. All different types! I have started finding the books I like for each subject and am now trying to piece it altogether like the all in one curriculums do. Anyone have any tips on how to do that without losing my mind! I love how the boxed cur. come with lesson plans but haven't found a complete program I like. I use VP, Phonics Road, CC, and the list goes on. The thing I like about those lesson plans is the extra stuff they sometimes have your student do. Putting my own books together I don't want to leave something out. Example, one lesson plan had about 10 weeks they went over there address, phone number, etc. Didn't even think about that! Just assumed my DS 9 knew that. Any suggestions?
  4. Those of you who use Home Art Studio, I looked at it and it looks very good! My question is if I have 3 kids who will be working off 1 DVD do I need to buy 3 sets of the art supplies? I understand they will need their own brush but what about everything else?
  5. Does anyone have a Gymboree coupon code they aren't going to use? Could you pm me the code if possible. Thanks Nadia
  6. I am looking for a Bible curriculum that is cheap for my kindergardener and pre-schooler. We just finished rod and staff and they really enjoyed it and it was simple for me to use or my ds 9 to do with them. It was just a Bible story with coloring page. Looking for something similar. Any ideas? Thanks
  7. I know veritas press sometimes has sales on its online curriculum but do they ever have sales on their literature kits or any other books?
  8. This looks like what I've been looking for! Would be interested to know what comes in the packages! Hope someone who has used it comments
  9. We are doing astronomy with the lapbook. My kids love it. 3rd, 1st, k, and preschool it works out wonderfully for all of them.
  10. I am looking for a history curriculum that I can just read to my dd 1st and ds K together. I am not wanting any worksheets b/c she is behind in her reading. A coloring sheet to go along would be great. Something simple! I have VP history but it would be too hard for them and not enough reading. Plus that is actually suppose to be started in the 2nd I think. Any suggestions would be great. I understand many would not start history cur. at this age, but I am wanting to add a little something else to the school day :)
  11. I love this idea! I'm assuming you have the vp teachers Manuel? Would like to know how this works out!
  12. Thanks for all the advice! I guess my main issue is truly history, which I don't actually teach but my oldest does VP self paced. He loves it but my dd doesn't read well so I was thinking of doing MFW for history with my dd 6.5 and ds 5. Plus my oldest would move on to the next level in history while my youngers are just starting out. I'm not very familiar with MFW though, is it easy to teach to multiples?
  13. My oldest is 8.5 and after many different curriculums I feel I finally have found everything that fits right with him. Now I have started to school my 6.5 with the same curriculums and I'm finding the same things might not work for her. For those of you who have hsed 2 or more at a time do you end up teaching what fits right for the individual or what's easiest for yourself? I also have 3 other kids and I can't imagine having to use 5 different curriculums if it came down to it! Any suggestions?

  15. I'm not usually one that thinks a curriculum is needed for a child this age but I am looking for something that has the books, teachers plans, and arts/crafts all together. I am spending too much time trying to come up with ideas on what to do and read to my younger ones. I've looked at memoria press jr. kindergarden set but I don't think the lit books come with it. I want something already put together, easy to use, and will prepare them for class work in the coming years. Any suggestions would be great! Thanks
  16. My dd 2 had a habit of sticking stickers up the nose. The problem with stickers is if they are up there too long they start falling apart when you try to get them out. I had to start checking her nose everyday and hiding stickers. My dd on many occasions would sneeze and they would come out. Anyhow for about 6 months she had developed a smell. We thought it was because she sucked her fingers. Then one day changing her diaper I saw a sticker in her nose. Waited days for her to blow it out and nothing. Tried tweezers but couldn't reach it. Finally took her to dr. She pulled out 4 stickers and a wad of paper with extra long tweezers. Cost about $100 a sticker! The smell she had went away within hours. The stickers and paper were almost unrecognizable :tongue_smilie:. Long story short take care of it ASAP!
  17. My ds 8 would be the type to play video games all day if he could. We own a Nintendo wii and an iPad. He has few games for the wii and I have a few apps on my iPad that are for him to play, mostly educational. Anyhow for 2 years now he has asked for a hand held device. A DS I think he calls it. I don't want to get him one because I feel it would be a waste of money, something better will come out soon and you have to buy all the games. Yesterday he came home saying he'd take an iPod touch, that he could play games on it and watch Netflix. First question is this true? I thought it was basically for music. Second, if you can play games can you see them? The screen appears small but I haven't seen one in person. Would you buy one for your 8 yr old? I almost want to use it as an award system for getting school things done! Thanks nadia
  18. My ds8 is currently on lesson 40 of Saxon 3. We enjoy Saxon very much but after Saxon 1 and 2 it feels there is much review and few new concepts learned. I have even skipped review here and there to try not to bore him completely. He loves math but is wanting more! I don't have a problem with review but we try to school year round so we don't mind as much review. Any suggestions on what I should do? I had someone suggest adding Ray's arithmetic to our curriculum but I know nothing about it. I really don't want to switch but I don't want his love of math to go away either! Thanks Nadia
  19. I am wanting to get a good art set for my dd 6. I don't want it to be the usual crayons, water paints, etc. I'm wanting something that she can do some real art work with. Any ideas? Tired of looking thru Michael's website. I'm not artistic at all so I don't really know what she needs. Thanks.
  20. I made a phonics switch last year for my 2nd grade ds. We started using PR level 1 because they said when starting no matter what grade to start at the beginning and I could use it "accelerated". Well here we are a full year later, now 3rd grade, and still on level 1. We are taking each week an actual full week. I have him go back over past weeks to review past word lists and it is as if he's never seen the word. I feel like it is mainly a spelling program with some reading (the 4 page books) and that is all. I thought it was a full language arts curriculum. Plus I thought by this point we would be in level 2. So I guess my question is, is PR a full language arts curriculum and what am I doing wrong that my son is not spelling and reading better? He is 8.
  21. If you have multiple kids do you buy clothes planning to pass them down? If so do you spend extra to get better quality? Tired of buying clothes with the intention of passing them down only to have little holes show up, stains, etc. Not to mention the amount of totes we are collecting by trying to pass them down. Don't want to waste anymore money!! But want my kids to look nice to go to church! Also where do you get the best buys with good quality? Anyone have any great ideas? Thanks
  22. I just recently read "The Core" and have decided I want to classically educate my kids. I had been previously using the Phonics Road and have been ok with it. Have only used it with one child though. Now I read the book and she recommends The Writing Road to Reading along with Spelling Plus. I'm not familiar with either one of those curriculums. Could someone please tell me if they are comparable? Is there any reason to switch because of my desire to teach classically? Thanks
  23. Looking for a Bible curriculum to hold the attention of an 8,6,4,3,1 year old (not so much the 1 yr old). Want something that is not just another " David and Goliath" story. Would like a simple activity to go with it possibly, not a lot of writing. Also not a lot of work to prepare for it, some of our best reading times have been when they are not necessarily planned! Any help would be great! Also I like to use the classical method so any ideas using that would be great! Thanks
  24. I had a list of corresponding story of the world chapters with the veritas press cards which I used for classical conversations. Now that CC has made their own cards I was wanting to use them and sotw together. Has anyone seen a list for that? Thanks
