  1. Thank you all for your help!! Satori--I didn't see anything about WWE PDF Student pages, what is that exactly?
  2. My DS will be starting 1st grade soon. For K I purchased SL the whole package. I ended up not using alot of it and spending alot of money. This year we will be starting CC so I still need a phonics, reading, writing, math curiculum. I have saxon 1 and OPGTR. Then I came across this website and the peace hill press books site. Their 1st grade cur. consists of the following: Story of the World Volume 1: Ancient Times-Paperback Activity Book 1 (Ancient Times) [Revised Edition]-Paperback Tests for The Story of the World, Vol. 1 The Story of the World, Vol. 1 (Revised) Audiobook First Language Lessons Level 1&2 Paperback Audio Companion - First Language Lessons Writing With Ease Instructor Text Writing With Ease Workbook Level 1 The Ordinary Parent's Guide to Teaching Reading Paperback Audio Companion - Ordinary Parent's Guide Magnetic Boards Flashcards for the Ordinary Parent's Guide to Teaching Reading someone who has used this 1st grade bundle, can you tell me did you use all of it or find some of it not nessasary to have. I want to buy the bundle but not all of it if I don't or won't use it. Any info would be great. Also I see alot about SOTW, does everyone love this?
  3. Our plan is to start CC this year. My son just turned 6 (today) and I figure now when he is loving learning and taking everything in is the best time to start. As I am starting to get things together I am finding ways to incorporate CC w/ what is going to be our daily curiculum. Our director gave me a list of read-alouds to go with everything they will be going over in history and science for cycle 2. That helps me in the read-aloud part of my curiculum. For science last year I bought the SL science K and ended up not having the time to do any of it. With CC I'm assuming he'll be getting some science there (not a big deal to me at this age). Then the art factor helps me out b/c my DS has been asking for art projects besides here's some crayons draw me something. So I'm hoping CC will simplify my HS time and he'll get so much more out of the HS experience. Plus I feel CC will teach him to think and remember things for the long term, not just to pass a test. People just don't think, I have problems with it myslef! When trying to decide whether to do it or not the only downfall for us was the $. Then I realized this is their education and its important to me so we'll find a way to do it!
  4. So now that she has passed the Bob books what do you think you'll start using? During the reading time are you reading to her, or is she reading to you or both. Just wondering between the reading and handwriting how much time you plan on allowing for those 2 subjects. My son hates doing handwriting, after a min. he complains his hand hurts. You said you planned on a 3 hr. day, is that spread throughout the day?
  5. I'm just starting OPGTR, wondering what readers you have to go with that. Also SOTW, I've seen that a lot on this forum, can someone explain to me what that is and how you incorporate it into your curiculum.
  6. New to Singapore Math. What is the difference between the standard edition and U.S. edition? Is one better than the other?
  7. My DS will be starting 1st grade and I've recently decided to do CC. I'm trying to pick a phonics cur. We did SL for K and he did well but looking at other cur., they looked more advanced than SL. My sister is doing Teach me to read in 100 lessons w/ her K son and she loves it. So now I can't decide, spend the $ on SL, go w/ Teach me to read in 100 lessons, or I've also been looking at (waiting for) MP to come out w/ their 1st grade cur. I just want him to be excited about learning to read and write! Any thoughts?
