  1. I'm looking for a middle school level Bible curriculum from a Protestant perspective. I would like something that goes through each book of the Bible and provides background information on the themes, authorship, and audience of each as well as pointing out larger threads that run throughout scripture. I am not looking for a character study or something with a heavy theological emphasis. What have you used that meets some or all of these requests? Any reviews on the Bible curriculum "The Most Important Thing You'll Ever Study"?

This includes the Small (6.5" figure) Bible felt/flannelgraph set with 600 figures, as well as: a grey background cloth, the manual, the Water/Sky background, the Shoreline overlay, and the Interior background. A few years ago, I painstakingly cut out every figure carefully. (They come uncut, so this actually saves a LOT of work for you.) A very few small pieces may have gone missing, but this was not used often. $125 PPD

  5. Hello all! I'd like to get some feedback on anyone that has purchased the SOS 5-subject Curriculum Set and how did you like it? I'm doing my research on it before I buy since it's a $400+ set and it will follow my kids from 3rd - 12th grade! I like that it has a consistent 5 subjects that covers the Bible, History & Geography, Language Arts, Math, and Science so I could use it as the core curriculum and add worksheets and activities I around it. Anyone use this with their kids? Thanks!
  6. I have purchased GrapeVine studies and as I'm starting to use it, I'm wondering how this is supposed to work. Unless I'm missing something obvious, I'm confused as to how I'm supposed to use it. It seems a bit disjointed. What am I missing? I've seen posts that GrapeVine is loved by families, so how does this work? My son is 8 years old and I need something that will keep his attention more so than the typical Sunday school format.
  7. Hi :3 This is Pronghorn's daughter, and I'm here to tell you about a game I made for my Girl Scout Silver Award. It's available free at JourneyswithPaul.blogspot.com My game centers around the missionary journeys of the Apostle Paul. You can print out the game board and pieces at the website and it's completely free. It can be used in home learning or Sunday school situations and other things. I'd appreciate feedback if you check it out. Please feel free to spread the word to other sites, especially Christian ones. Bye :3
  8. Does anyone have recommendations for a Bible curriculum or devotional that includes Scripture Memory for Kinder age? My older 3 have done school together for 3 years, but my youngest is now starting. I have been using Long Story Short Devotional (Old Testament), but now we are part way through Short Story Long (New Testament). I hate to jump her in at this point (although, yes she has sat in on some of it). I used Leading Little Ones to God when they were young, but I don't seem to have it anyone. For Scripture memory the older 3 use Sing the Word Cds. We are now onto the longer ones, wh
  9. The third instructor book in our Telling God's Story series is now available on our webstore, in both bound and PDF form. It is also available for pre-order on Amazon, but we have not yet been told when they'll ship theirs. If you order directly from us, we'll ship it right away. Our new author, Rachel Marie Stone, has done a great job in continuing the pattern that Peter Enns set up. We think you and your children will love her style. The Activity Book is nearly complete, and should be available by this coming fall.
  10. I'd like to correlate a 4-yr. WTM Great Books study with Christian Bible study, doctrine, and theology. Before I unwittingly reinvent the wheel, has this already been done? I'd love to make a plan that completely follows TWTM, utilizes SWB's HotAW or Western Civilization (Spielvogel) as the main history thread, but adds something to link Biblical history to it and Bible study (with lessons, commentary, not just a reading list of chapters/verses) as well, such as any of the following: Just the Bible section of MFW AHL (covers O.T. only, but same type of plan could be created for N.T.), Tr
  11. Hello! Is there an open and go Bible curriculum out there that has the following: 1. Kinesthetic (I'm aware of Konos) 2. Has memory scripture (but also explains the memory scripture) It can contain both aspects or just one. I may just stick with Konos. It's just so hard for me to implement. I think that's all I'm looking for. I may have to come back and edited. :) Thanks in advance! ETA: not looking for coloring pages
  12. Does anyone recommend a Bible curriculum that specifically guides child towards a living relationship with Christ. I was thinking that perhaps there are 2 ways Bible curricula can go: 1) Geared towards children that already accepted the gospel & have a relationship with Christ & have accepted Him as Lord OR 2) Geared towards children who need to hear the gospel message... I am thinking of a curriculum that lays out the gospel and then focus on guided a more discipling message. What are your thoughts or experiences? Thanks Sherid
  13. I am looking for a Bible curriculum that is cheap for my kindergardener and pre-schooler. We just finished rod and staff and they really enjoyed it and it was simple for me to use or my ds 9 to do with them. It was just a Bible story with coloring page. Looking for something similar. Any ideas? Thanks
  14. We are delighted to announce that the manuscript of the third volume of Telling God’s Story–working title: God’s Upside-Down Kingdom–has arrived at the Olive Branch Books office. And it’s fantastic! Now that Peter Enns has set the framework for the TGS curriculum, we have been gathering other writers to flesh out the vision of Telling God’s Story. Rachel Marie Stone, author of Year Three, is a writer, thinker, and mom of two. She’s just finished a book for InterVarsity Press about God and food (check it out here, and read more from Rachel here). Like Susan Wise Bauer, she wr
  15. I'm creating a 1.0 credit Christian Apologetics curriculum. Turns out my desire to do this is much more ambitious than my own faith in my ability to create a decent curric. Here are the novels I plan to use, along with other available resources and potential assignments. I also include the length of time to cover each novel, including our routine break weeks and holidays (30 weeks planned over 39 weeks total). Book timeframes are based on an avg of 100-150 pages read per week. Please help me figure out if I'm on the right track, need to expand, cut, etc. and how I should divide up grades
  16. Worldview Academy is a non-denominational organization dedicated to helping Christians to think and to live in accord with a biblical worldview so that they will serve Christ and lead the culture. Worldview Academy Leadership Camps are one-week camps for 13 to 18 year-olds. They are very strong in their apologetics teaching, and they make it lots of fun too. They are very well organized and are quite popular among the homeschoolers in our area. Out of the 21 camps scheduled in different college campuses this summer, two are almost full and five are wait-listed already (as of May 28, 201
  17. I want to help my almost 11 year-old learn how to spend time with God, cultivating her prayer life through journaling, reading the Word, etc. I've browsed online but a lot of the books don't have samples or even reviews, so I'm hoping to get your recommendations. It's important to me that this is not a "character building" book nor a devotional book of stories, but a tool for building a personal relationship with God. When I was young, my mom worked at a Christian bookstore and she gave me what I think was called Quiet Time Notebook by Becky Tirabassi, which I enjoyed using and it helpe

  19. I'm considering switching to CLE Bible for both of my kids and would love to hear opinions and/or recommendations for other programs. I feel my kids need to learn more and LLOTG is not meeting my standards for 3rd grade. The book we use for 1st is fabulous, but again, needs more.

  21. Hello, I have SOTW and MOH for Ancients and wanted to use them both. Biblioplan (upper middle grades 6-8) includes both of these for spines and I like the Christian approach. The cost for the set is more than I was planning on. My ds wouldn't like the coloring book and we have a timeline that could be used. My question for those of you who have used Biblioplan is which books are the most important if you purchased them separately ? Family Guide Companion Discussion guide Cool History Cool History Classic? Hands-on Maps This is for one student, my youngest.
  22. We will begin SOTW 1 with my first grade son in the fall. I like SOTW for the most part, but I really want to weave Biblical history in as well. Is Biblioplan a good fit for a 1st grader? Would I just need to buy the lesson plans and not the companion, since I'm using SOTW as my spine & I'll also use the AG for SOTW? I downloaded the sample from the website & I wasn't impressed with the companion from Biblioplan.
  23. Hi all, Olive Branch Books (the religious-instruction imprint of Peace Hill Press) is pleased to announce a brand-new book: "James: A Letter to the Scattered." We think you and your children will enjoy it. Take a look, view samples, and purchase here. It's also available now on Amazon for pre-order (they'll be shipping their copies in a couple of weeks). Here's a brief description: For two thousand years, a single ancient letter has inspired deeds of world-changing bravery and has kindled compassion of millions of lives. In James: A Letter to the Scattered, Earnest Graham's dram
  24. Fans of "Telling God's Story," thank you for your patience. The Year Two instructor guide, and the Year Two activity book, are now both for sale on our webstore: http://www.welltrainedmind.com/store/religion-curriculum.html. You can see samples at the individual book pages. If you have any questions about the books, you can ask them here, or email me at justin AT peacehillpress DOT com. We are gratified by all the wonderful feedback we've heard from you, and we're excited about this second year of helping parents and teachers introduce children to Jesus.
