  1. Oh no! I'm so sorry your daughter had to go through that mess. Why we homeschool? Originally, because I used to be an elementary ps teacher, and I didn't like the whole environment. I didn't want my children to be a part of that. The longer we homeschool, the more I realize what a good thing it is! We have the freedom to go at our own pace. We study what we want to study. We spend so much more time together as a family. We can go to the park during the day and it's not crowded! And the museum! And the pool! We did take two years off when dh and I decided I needed to go back to work for financial reasons. The kids all went to ps. Oldest dd was in 7th grade, and it was a really rough year for her. She has since switched to a very small ps and is very happy and thriving there. Ds13 BEGGED to come back home this year after three weeks in 6th grade. He was miserable. He and dd10 are now homeschooling again.
  2. Hi all, I haven't been posting long, though I've read the WTM boards on and off for many years. Dh and I will be married 20 years (sheesh!) this summer. We have three kids; dd16, ds13, and dd10. We've homeschooled MOST of these years since dd was born in 1994. We did take two years when we decided that I needed to work outside the home, and kids went to ps. Dd16 is still in ps and is happy and thriving there. Most of the time. :glare: Ds and dd10 are now back at home, and we're all happy about that! :001_smile: We're very eclectic here...using whatever works for us, and not afraid to change what we're doing from year to year.
  3. Gee whiz. Sorry about that last post. I'm still getting the hang of this.....:glare:

  6. Ahhh....I love these forums! Another gamer family here. Dh and ds are addicted to Halo 3, dds love Rock Band, and I am more into the computer games like Zoo Tycoon. UGH! It's SO addicting! Oh. And Webkinz. Dd10 and I have extended conversations daily about that site! I'm as addicted as she is. Thank you all for making me feel so....normal! :001_smile:

  10. Too funny! The only thing that stopped my oldest from crying was Vince Gill! Go figure.....
  11. Gosh...and the ps 6th grade boy who BIT my son on the leg (through his jeans, leaving bite marks and bruises) because my son wouldn't share his snack with him... only spent one lunch period in the principal's office. That was his "punishment". :001_huh: My son is now at home, btw.
