  1. We do not know anyone who has done this. How do we know who is reputable? I worry about her safety. However, SHE is ready to take on the world :001_smile:
  2. My daughter is keen on this idea but I am wary of her going there. Anyone have experience with this? I have heard that they especially look for native English speaking women.
  3. I bought a white, designer 100% silk top on auction site for a really good price. But the seller packed it in a small manilla envelope and it was torn in transit and now there is some sort of grease stain on front and back. I decided to keep it and tried to remove the stain with a variety of methods. None worked. Today I tried dying it with coffee bath and it turned out a beautiful cream color but the stain darkened! Any suggestions on what I should do to get this stain out?
  4. I think our coaches are following some recent guidelines. I thought it was national. Maybe you can help institute them :001_smile:
  5. I was worried about my boys doing football practice in the heat. However, the coaches here are mandated to break every 20 minutes, for 10 minute water break. The coaches provide lots of cold water. Does your area has similar mandates?
  6. Thank you all for your thoughtful and informative posts. Type 2 ( and type 1, once) has hit every generation in my family going back as far as we can document. I am still gathering and learning.
  7. On the Raw Foods video, a type 1 diabetic, a young man named Kirt, went to raw foods and after a month had normal blood sugar without Meds. He then went to (is attending) medical school to be a naturalpathic doctor.
  8. Is there really such a thing as an undiagnosed adults with type 1 diabetes? There was one in a video I watched recently. At first the doctors assumed he was newly diagnosed type 2 but in depth blood test showed him to be type 1. The video was called Simply Raw.
  9. No beans?!?! I am so excited! Now I have a reason to not eat beans - I can just tell people I am on the Paleo Diet  I have never eaten beans in my entire life - just tell people I am allergic.
  10. I am diabetic and I am feeling more and more led to believe that I need to cut all - or at least nearly all grains from my diet. I do not believe in the food pyramid. I just watched Food Matters so this topic is fresh on my mind. What do you all think?
  11. Across the street is a cow arm. A neighbor told me that I can bring over a milk bottle and buy milk from him. Is that healthy? I heard somewhere that we can get worms from unpastureized milk ... Not sure what that process entails.
  12. Back from vet. Thank you for encouraging us to go. X-ray showed only a few small bones left and some intestinal infection and slight fever. She received two shots and some oral meds to take home. On the bright side, late night visit and all the above was only $120 ... And she is going to be ok is priceless. Thanks again!
  13. She has thrown up a couple times today but just now threw up watery blood. How dire is this? Almost 10 PM here and wondering if I need to take her to the vet ER. Thanks for advice.
  14. Brevil is what the man (forgot his name) on Fat, Sick and Dying recommends. I saw several different styles. What model do you use? Thanks everyone for posting!
  15. I believe that counseling is required before surgery. My friend recently considered band surgery and she had to diet for a few weeks prior to surgery to prove she could diet after. Surgery is so invasive and after a person needs to monitor food. I think that with the gastric bypass some foods are dangerous too. I wish the insurance would pay for a stay in a facility instead of surgery :glare: I hope your doctor is able to lead you on the right path :grouphug:
  16. :grouphug: I bawled too when my son went to basic. On the bright side, the SGTs force them to call home. :grouphug:
  17. I had thousands of books at one time. Newbery and Caldacott Medal and Award books from every year, all Dick and Jane books and every living book and more that I could bring home. NOW, I can carry all of my books at one time. No, not with a fork lift  in my arms. My art books and Climbing Parnasus, Herotatus, Great Traditions and a couple others I want to read soon.
  18. Same here - or in denial lol! Anyone, What are some OCD behaviors?
  19. I do watch all three hoarders shows. There were and are hoarders in my family. I find I tend to WANT TO hoard/COLLECT - but then it upsets/stresses me so much I purge! What I found works for me is to aim for minimalism and quality. It seems there is a common thread through the shows - collections = emotional comfort. Anyone else collect and purge? Maybe I am a hoarder with an allergy to hoards
  20. I feel like i have to draaaaaag information from my GP. It brings me to tears sometimes. A PAP result just came back "HPV (high risk): Negative. PAP II" I asked what it meant and the doc and nurse didn't know. A patient advocate had to look it up on a computer and she vaguely told me PAP II means abnormal. But couldn't tell em abnormal WHAT? Or how abnormal or ???? :glare:
  21. I have an Otter Box Defender case on mine with a screen protector. I put the protector on because it would drive me nuts *if* the screen were scratched.
