  1. I just received an email saying the self-paced courses are on sale again! The sale price lasts until May 25th.
  2. My dd is very interested in this college. The decision is between this one and George Washington- which is a great school, just across from the State Department where she'd like to work. I love the idea that at The Kings College, the core curriculum is very classical and the major that my daughter is looking at, PPE (politics, philosophy, and economics), is based on Oxford's ancient PPE degree. I'm just not sure about the school, though. It seems to have gone through a lot changes in it's past, and I'm curious if anyone has any experience with The Kings College or has any information. Thanks! Dawn
  3. I agree that it's completely unnecessary, but you can buy them used on amazon for $8-10. Get the isbn from CBD.com and use it to search by isbn on amazon. I've bought all my TM's this way with no problem. --Dawn
  4. It looks interesting. I added it to my shopping cart, which has 22 pages of 'save for later'. Please post what you think of it when you get it, I'm curious. --Dawn
  5. Thanks. Now I'm off to rethink history again! I do enjoy history, though, so it's good. --Dawn
  6. Stephanie, Thanks. So I could list Medieval History, for example, on the transcript? We aren't in the UK anymore, though, we're in the Middle East. My husband is in the military, but my kids will be going to U.S. universities so I want to make sure the transcripts will be suitable. Thanks again for your help. I guess I should have started by checking with the source-- the WTM! --Dawn
  7. I'd like to continue the four year history cycle, but I've noticed posts saying that colleges like one year of world history, one year of American history/ Civics, and something else which escapes me (I'm new at the High School thing). How would four years of specific history periods look on the transcript? Has anyone had a problem with it? Thanks for the help! --Dawn
  8. I found the opposite. Both of my older children (6th & 7th) decided that they wanted to go to school last year. My daughter is back home, but both got almost straight A's. Daily, they would come home to tell me something else they were shocked by--the kids don't know where Egypt is on the map, they are teaching us geography in math class... --Dawn
  9. I'm not positive, but I think there's a Chalkdust edition and a regular edition that are basically the same. If you search this board for the prealgebra isbn's you might be able to pm someone that has it to see if the other edition works with the set. I have algebra and geometry, neither are the Chalkdust edition, but the dvds and the solution manual line up perfectly with the textbook. I did have to buy 4-5 $3.99ish texts of algebra before I found the correct one. --Dawn
  10. Have you tried doing an ISBN search on amazon? I got both my Algebra I and Geometry books there. Dawn
  11. Not really related, but I just wanted to mention that travel in Europe can be absurdly cheap. It might be a good thing to take advantage of. There are several low budget airlines, where round trip tickets can be had for $30-60. We once got tickets roundtrip from England to Portugal for $23. --Dawn
  12. You can piece it together for much less money. Someone one the board (pongo, I think) has researched it and posted the isbns you'll need. I bought both Algebra I & Geometry this way and it's worked out perfectly. --Dawn
  13. I'm relearning algebra so that I can stay ahead of my daughter this year. I confess that I'm enjoying it! I studied art history and philosophy in college, with no interest in math, but now I really find it fascinating! --Dawn
  14. I've just finished scheduling it for the year, and it's going to take us 39 weeks to finish it all! Seriously, do you all cover every page? I know that schools usually only covers parts of the book in most subjects, but I don't want any gaps and I'm unqualified to say which parts are less important! Just curious what everyone else does.... --Dawn
  15. Rhonda, Thanks. My dd is definitely not going to be science major--she's plans to study Eng/Lit. I'll talk to her and see which focus she'd prefer. Thanks for your help. --Dawn
  16. Thanks for the replys-- they both help! I've printed out the schedule from the website, but it looks like it doesn't cover most of the modules. I guess we will just add on the extras that the DIVE CD covers. Is that what most end up doing? I feel like I'm a bit behind in this. My dd had decided she wanted to go to school, so I hadn't been planning then after she tried most of a year she decided she missed actual learning and wanted to homeschool the rest of her years through high school..... Thanks, Dawn
  17. My dd is going to be using both of these together in the fall. I'm writing our lesson plans now and it doesn't look like the DIVE CD lessons line up very well with the Modules. Has anyone had a problem with this? Any schedules out there, before I spend the week pouring over both? Thanks in advance! --Dawn
  18. Thanks. That is not the text that I have, but mine says it's a "special publication for chalkdust", by Ron Larson. I'll try loading it and see if I can get them to match up. I really apprecaite you linking me to the picture--there are so many out there it's hard to tell. Dawn
