  1. We enjoy Nature Friend. http://www.naturefriendmagazine.com/
  2. The base curriculum she has used is Henle. We supplement with things from Bolchazy Carducci. She benefits greatly from a grammar book they sell called Looking at Latin. It also has optional online exercises that accompany each page in the grammar book. It is the most engaging grammar text I have seen and has been quite helpful for her. I have purchased books for translation work from BC as well.
  3. We received our results! DD11 missed one on NLE II, so she now has two gold medals. Yeah!! :hurray:
  4. My daughter who just turned 11 received her results from the NLE II exam. She only missed one, so she now has 2 gold medals under her belt. I am so proud of her diligence!
  5. We are still waiting too! Does anyone know the breakdown for medals in terms of the scores for NLE II?
  6. I don't think so. You have things planned out really well. :)
  7. I certainly understand not giving HS credit for classes which are not HS level. I was referencing HS course work which she is doing. My husband and I have no intention of our dc leaving home early, but I think our oldest dd will be doing predominantly CC work by the time she is "9th grade" age-wise. I suppose I am just bewildered about how to document her work. If they are looking for Algebra, Geometry, Trig, Bio... etc. on a HS transcript, it won't be there. Thank you for the clarification, and thank you for drawing my attention to Kathy's generous offer!
  8. So, when you have a student working 4 grade levels up in work with testing to support that, it means nothing? Am I missing something here for those of us with gifted kids? Wow, that's discouraging.
  9. I try to incorporate the raw food diet into my routine, not exclusively by any means. I have learned to take the organic veggies (like broccoli which has a lot of bulk and texture) and blend them for a long time before adding the whey protein and organic berries. That has helped, but it took me a while to get the gag reflex under control due to the broccoli texture. I completely relate. I will say that having my raw food smoothie in the morning helps me tremendously, and I can drink it much faster than I could eat a plate of broccoli.
  10. I don't think so. I would feel the same way.
  11. This describes precisely how we were with our first dd. I planned things out for a semester, and we were done in two weeks. I agree with the other posts that you have to find what works for you and for your children. We have experienced, or shall I say, I have encountered a steep learning curve in teaching my children because of their profound abilities. What I thought school should look like rarely coincided with what actually happened. I am always deconstructing and then reconstructing. Even now (6 years into it), I struggle with the dynamic sometimes. Fortunately, my children don't. I think the best thing to do is for each family to find what works best for them and forget about what everyone else is doing. :001_smile:
