    If..

hmmm. Possible big-life changes. We are weighing them. Need to take care of eldery widowed mother. All (2) kids going to college within the next 5 years. Possible huge move from overseas back to US. (WE are talking major.) Do you have to have a job secure, (even if you've had the same job the last 20+ years) if you can put say 50% or more down on a home? We dh and I are over 45, would need a job, but would prefer self-employment.

    If..

If you had no debt, don't own anything, but have quite a bit coming from an inheritance, (enough to put a good down payment on a pretty good home,) would you buy a house in this economy?
  4. My son has a Apologia chemistry 14.1 lab due this week. We just noticed that we don't have some of the necessary things for the experiment and won't be able to get them. (in Japan). Is there a youtube video for this experiment somewhere? Help : )
  5. What's the name of your business? I'm thinking "The Whisk and Spoon" is a cuter name and you could integrate the whisk and spoon in the lettering. (I'm a graphic designer, but I have little time right now). Describe more about your business feel using adjectives: classic, modern, comtemporary, homey, up-town, downtown, etc....? I may be able to whip up some prelim idea sketches, but, again, I can't promise. I do these kind of things for fun now, if I have time.
  6. What I would say to my dd (if I had yours)? "I'm so glad honey you love people so much and want to serve. You go girl!" We must have raised you right! "In the meantime, please don't judge me till you raise 11+ children."
  7. safety, (walking in a park alone without fear), being close to nature somehow, I need trees and grass and sunshine, having little luxuries without worrying over the cost (ie. a simple pleasure like coffee with a friend), access to health care, freedom to make decisions based on my families needs, freedom to homeschool, access to good friends and good church, shelter that suits (having an extra bedroom for friends to stay), transportation (not fancy but it works), the ability to have a vacation every year or time off from work, access to internet and information.
  8. finances investments cook clean car maintenance appreciate art/music experience another culture gardening home projects/maintence
  9. My son is taking ADV. Comp with Nikki Troxell. She is a great teacher and very knowledgeable. I don't know anything about the classes you're looking into though.
  10. I use my free weights while doing Leslie Samsone's Walk away the Pounds DVD- 5miles. On the 3rd mile I just incorporate them (except during the "boost"), and also the first half of the 5th mile (except duringt the "boost" time) Makes the workout do alot more just adding the hand weights.
  11. I also have this problem. Hoping to hear from those who know what to do. I've tried fasting and actually gained weight!!! What's up with that?
  12. Amelia? I just watched it. pretty good. On A. Earhart. : )
  13. A "help" for me was having a sheet of paper with me always (in my pocket, by my bedside, etc.) that had positive messages written on it like: "you will be okay" "you can get through this" "you are not dying" "This will pass in a matter of minutes" "You are not having a heart attack" " just breathe" a favorite psalm or scripture helped as well. etc... Whenever I was experiencing panic, I would read these positive messages to myself. It was so helpful to contradict all my fears when going through a panic attack. Maybe your mom could try this.
  14. Thank you. I wasn't familiar with these two teachers, so your feedback was very helpful.
  15. I had panic disorder. I think it was like a very post ptsd. Did she ever have a trauma in childhood? or earlier? I discovered mine was due to underlying family issues/trauma that never surfaced naturally. Also, I think low magnesium or even low potassium can sometimes cause these things as well. Once I discovered the "root" of my fear, I was free. I didn't see a Dr. for this. I just prayed (this took at least 8months) and it hit me like a ton of bricks, the source of my fear. I do think meds can help through the crisis though. I took meds for a while (but a very low dose) I'm not sure if they really contributed to recovery or not.
  16. Thank you. If you don't mind me asking, how old was your son and do you have any tips on buying the software. Is the software terribly expensive or kit? Was the class very time consuming, or more fun and interesting? Thanks you for your help. I believe there is only one instructor. Did your son find him engaging? My son is dyslexic, so its real important for me to know details, so I appreciate your feedback.
  17. These are young children's book authors, right? Am I missing something? Did you mean these for psychological thrillers?
  18. Love TPS. No experience with Landry. The science classes are very good. Chemistry is kicking my son's b...t. : )
  19. My son (16) is looking for something really good to read that involves big-time suspense, mystery, and psychological drama, etc. Any recs out there? We live in Japan, so I'm not exactly sure what's out there right now.
  20. Looking for experienced feedback in the following classes and for specific (good) instructors for the courses following: (All Potter's School) Thanks for any help. ; ) SAT Prep The Art of Argument Greek and Latin Roots World History through Film Logo to Lego Logic Psychology
  21. Yes, I suppose I just learned my lesson the hard way (smile). I'm not very good at this. Thanks for your help and thoughts. I will be more clear next time. I realize now, it came across wrong. Honestly, he was working hard on the paper this morning, and I had a quick thought it would be nice for him to hear others opinions. I just quickly sent it out, not thinking. I still had my "writing coach cap on" (lol) I thought I had come up with a great idea for him to gather info on people's real feelings, opinions on the subject and hand him the info. to chew on. We learn from our mistakes. : )
  22. Thank you so much for taking the time to write that out. It's nice to hear a different perspective with reasons as well. I appreciate your point of view.
