  1. It's actually kind of weird for me because the "nighttime" versions of things usually keep me awake. Nyquil gets me wired and twitchy so I have to take Dayquil if I need something more at night when sick. Alcohol has the same effect on me, wakes me up and makes me jittery. Evidently I'm just strange all around.
  2. Yeah, I know about the dementia thing, which applies to all antihistamines, even the newer ones. But the rest of his points are a little hyperbolic, and apply to many of the newer ones as well (dry mouth, etc). I'm not worried about my teenagers abusing my benedryl or about overdosing myself. Benedryl actually doesn't sedate me at all, I take 1/2 a dose at a time and it has no effect but works very well for my allergies. Claritan, Allegra, Zyrtec, Singular - none of them work for me. Allegra and Singulair make me psychotic. I've had allergy issues for 30+ years and I've tried them all. I have allergy-induced asthma so have to keep them under control, so I use what works for me.
  3. I hope this turns out true, it would finally be some good news about my risk. I live on antihistamines (diphenhydramine mostly though).
  4. I was trying to remember tv shows in the past that addressed big issues like Covid. 9/11 is one but some shows ignored it completely while others mentioned it briefly. I don't think many had entire episodes or ongoing storylines about it. I can't think of anything else that ever was addressed like that? Usually even current things like who is the president isn't even mentioned ever. I tend to watch a lot of science fiction type shows so realism isn't really what they are about. I seriously doubt if Supernatural comes back they are going to be wearing masks and talking about Covid.
  5. We did Math Mammoth with a bunch of supplements through 6th grade for ds and 4th grade for dd. Then dd did Envision math, then a workbook I can't remember the name of for pre-algebra, then Key to Algebra, now she's doing Key to Algebra again. Ds is doing MUS Algebra 2 and Jacob's Geometry.
  6. No Jeremiah was a bullfrog? That song (Joy to the world) is actually dh's ringtone on my phone.
  7. Morning. I'm already at the science center at 8:21 am because dh's car is in the shop and this is his first day back at the office in two weeks so we had to drop him off. Ds gets to stay home since his entire class is on quarantine and we're doing that class by Zoom. Dd came with me for her class but there will be only 3 here in person. My teacher is meeting me here at 9am so we can discuss seating arrangements. I'm trying to come up with a way to spread the kids in class out a little bit more. My class is mostly spaced out, which is why only 3 had to quarantine (plus siblings) but her room is smaller and the nature of her classes also means she can't set them up the way mine are. I don't have to be able to reach all the seats easily, she does. I'm not sure there is going to be a solution, we may just have to stick with what we are doing with maybe a little additional separation.
  8. House is now sealed tight, with good windows and insulation. The walls aren't totally finished but that's fine. Next weekend dh is going to take the kids down to visit his mom and I'll spend the weekend cleaning and working on classes. There is dust EVERYWHERE.
  9. I've done a bunch from there too. I started with a pumpkin run last October. I put pictures of all the shirts I've done in the post linked in the first post in this thread. I don't get the medals, I'm motivated by tshirts. 🙂 I'll participate in this one again. I already have the shirt but I've been somewhat off track lately between very minor foot surgery and chaos at home.
  10. That's truly WTF behavior. I wouldn't worry about contracting it from that exposure, but what about next week when you get together again?
  11. Not to mention, if you do get it, your viral load is likely to be less if you've been masking and around others who are masking, therefore you are less likely to get serious sick. I am trying to not get it. I think it may be possible for some people to not get it, with proper precautions. If I do get it, I want to do what I can to up my chances of having a mild case.
  12. Judging by the number of people who threw a fit when seat belt laws started, as well as how often they have to do campaigns about it, I'd say it's because of the law. A friend of mine's daughter, 17 years old, under 5 feet tall, works at a store and masks are required around here. She had to ask someone (wearing a mask promoting a particular candidate around their chin) to pull their mask up and the guy walked up and blew in her face before leaving. Crap like that is why some people need to be reported.
  13. Morning. I'm having my tea about 6 feet away from saws cutting the board over the window openings. So relaxing. 🤪 Today is the last day they are working. All the windows will be in, the entire outside of the house is wrapped waiting for the new siding, there's new sheetrock in the kitchen (it was falling down after the roof was done months ago). The inside won't be finished for another few months, possibly next year but we'll get there. We have paneling in the living room that evidently is also going to be replaced by sheetrock eventually, and the fireplace is going to be resurfaced (it's river rock now) inside and out. I'm going to be heading over to the science center soon. I have to get programs off computers there so I can email them to the kids on quarantine.
  14. Check which ones are still available. I've been doing them over the past year. Some of the past ones are still available on the website under Sale/Clearance.
  15. This is the back of the Stir Crazy shirt. 🙂 I don't get the medals, only the shirts. Joining even once gets you access to a Facebook group that is actually very encouraging and supportive. I don't post much but I stay a member. They also have coloring pages to use to track your distance, a different one for each challenge.
  16. I've heard it before, I'm in NJ. I don't think I've ever used it but I could be wrong. I think I heard it mostly in books.
  17. I actually already did this one and have the t-shirt. 😁 From the same group, I've also done the She Wolf Challenge: the Stir Crazy Challenge... the Transformation Challenge... the I Shall Rise Challenge.... And I started with last year's pumpkin run. What can I say? I'm motivated by tshirts.
  18. I'm not sure if I would or not. Compliance around here is really good among public businesses, but possibly because there were fines and loss of licenses back in the spring. Mostly bars and restaurants I think but I did hear about one store that was fined. I think it would depend on the circumstances. Is it a business that it's easy for anyone to just go somewhere else? Probably wouldn't bother if it was just once or twice. A business that is the only good option in an area, especially for the elderly or those in poverty, and is an ongoing problem where they refuse to comply? I may report it in that case.
  19. My Covid test came back negative. So far it seems just my one student positive.
  20. Good Afternoon, I was kicked out of the house today since they have to move stuff and there's no where to put it except where I would sit. They are ripping out the ceiling sheetrock and replacing it and the insulation. Our house is going to be almost completely new by the time this is all done (not a bad thing). My covid test was negative so classes are back on for Monday but I have to set up remote options for the kids who are on quarantine. I guess it's not bad to have systems in place in case we get here again.
  21. Morning. I'm sitting here to the sounds of drills and hammering, with random shut-offs of the power and internet. They are still working on the laundry room and kitchen walls today. It's going to look really nice when done.
  22. Morning. I'm home today. I had a student test positive on Monday. Technically I wasn't a "close contact" but we decided to shut down for the rest of the week pending results of my test to be on the safe side. I had to notify about 100 families first thing yesterday morning. Luckily the kid was in the last class of the day, after the other teacher had left when there were no younger kid classes going on. He also sat in the back of the room so was farther away from most of the group. But still. I was hoping it would be a little longer before we got to this point. I could be getting so much done with my "free" time except they are working inside the house today putting up sheetrock. The outside of the house is done, they need to put in some windows, and then indoor sheetrock (only in laundry nook and kitchen/dining area) and they are done. The finishing off of the sheetrock, new kitchen cabinets, and new siding aren't being done until later. I'm going to clean out the snake's tank, go to the science center and feed the turtle, cockroaches and fish, then bring the snake home.
  23. I've added Google Play Store to about 15 Kindle Fire tablets so far. I use them for my classes and I didn't want to pay a lot for them because I have little kids walk around using them with robots or green screens. My kids both have Kindle Fires with specialized drawing apps, among other things. I always use these directions: https://pokemongokindlefire.com/ because the first time I did it so ds could play Pokemon Go on his tablet. I continue to use these instructions because they've never failed me, I just don't do the last steps specific to pokemon go because I haven't installed that on my class ones.
  24. I have before pictures but there won't be any after pictures for months. The new siding isn't scheduled to be delivered until December. So the house is just wrapped in the construction wrap, but the new windows will be in.
  25. Gee, I'm over 50, female, have asthma (also obese and have the "wrong" blood type). So far I don't have any symptoms that aren't more likely to be my allergies. I guess if my test is positive, I'll have to rethink that.
