  1. Does anyone know where to watch Shenandoah the Musical? Not the Jimmy Stewart movie, the 1974 musical. Thanks!

  3. Morning. Happy Monday, but it's not really a Monday. Our whole schedule is different this week, no classes and little school (except for ds who is still finishing up stuff from the past two weeks). Today I'll clean the bathroom, dd's room and the living room.
  4. I'm not coordinated enough and don't have good enough knees for wind surfing nor water skiing (or snow skiing for that matter). I do like hiking.
  5. Morning. Even though it's after 11am I'm just sitting down to my tea now. Met dd for yoga this morning, then ran to BJs with dh. It was crazy busy and I definitely will not be going again any time soon. In fact, I may do online curbside pickup if I need anything more. Today I think I'll clean the bathroom and dd's room. Tomorrow I'll work at the classroom doing some cleaning/rearranging and maybe the storage unit. Tuesday more cleaning at home or finishing up classroom or storage and laundry. Wednesday we leave for MIL's house. While at her house for the weekend, I'll work on classes. That's the plan, we'll see what I actually get done.
  6. I'm back from kayaking. It was really fun but got pretty chilly by the end. The sunny morning turned into a cloudy afternoon. I'm glad I brought a pair of fingerless gloves and a headband that I could cover my ears (my ears and hands get cold easily) but I was fine in my windbreaker over a long sleeve tshirt and my swim leggings.
  7. We have 6 foot, sit-in kayaks. We bought them mainly for the kids when they were around 10 and 8 or so. We didn't want sit-on because they all seemed to have 120 pound limits (and my kids were around 80-100 pounds at that age) but we didn't want 8 or 10 foot ones that would be harder for them to control. Ours have a 200 pound limit but I can still use them at a few <<ahem>> pounds over 200, I just sit slightly lower in the water. Since they are only 6 foot, we can fit at least one of them (probably both if dh is the one fitting them in) in our Pilot with just the passenger side seats folded down. We were going to get a roof rack but it was an expensive after market addition and in a pinch we can use our Suburban which has a roof rack AND is big enough to fit both inside with just the third row out. Which is the other advantage, these are light enough and not as awkward as longer ones so I can put them up and take them down off the racks by myself (we have them racked at our lake most of the time). We only kayak in lakes and fairly slow moving rivers. We are so not equipped for ocean kayaking.
  8. Morning! Happy Saturday. I didn't sleep great because I had a Strawberry Rita in a can last night. I never sleep well when I drink, it's some weird metabolism thing that alcohol wakes me up. I still woke up feeling okay, probably because I'm off for an entire week and can relax a little bit. I'm going kayaking with friends at a local reservoir today. I have to run and put the kayak in my car after I finish my tea. It's going to be a high of around 59 today so chilly but I'll wear my swim leggings/wet suit pants and a long sleeve top and bring a change of shoes and clothes in case I need them. The place has a launch where you don't even have to get your feet wet. I'm really looking forward to it.
  9. I was on regular BC as a teen for periods so heavy I wound up hospitalized with severe anemia. That was the days before low dose. I was on low dose in my 30's mainly for heavy periods still, got pregnant with ds within weeks of going off, with dd within two months, so the low dose didn't seem to cause any problems as far as that was concerned, nor I guess my long time on the regular pill when younger. After my Level III ultrasound with my youngest, they told me I had the ovaries of a much younger woman (I was 38). Wasn't quite sure what to say to that, thank you didn't seem quite appropriate, Oldest dd is on low dose and has been for quite a while. She hasn't had any problems and the newer ones will work fine for BC, but you do have to take them the same time every day, and they do recommend a barrier method as well.
  10. I think we knew a while back that fever wasn't a really good indicator for infection. I never bothered doing temp screenings at my place because it seemed more "theater" than actual use.
  11. Good Morning. It's Friday!!!!! Last day before my first break in 10 weeks. My first 8 week session is always without a break (no holidays), but I usually take off between the first and second session. Didn't this year because Labor Day was so late it would have pushed things too close to Thanksgiving. I'm tired and really could use a break to get done all the things that have been getting neglected. House is mostly done, inside is all done for now, so I can also work on that. Just two classes today, all teenagers so not too hard. I like teenagers and find them easier than younger kids,
  12. If I were the cook in the family, we'd eat out a lot more. When I was married to ex, we ate out almost every night. But dh is an amazing cook and does all our daily cooking as well, so we don't eat out too often. Except when traveling: For dh and I, we'll go out for our anniversary and maybe our birthdays, although now that the kids are older we sometimes just stay home and he makes an amazing meal here. As a whole family, we used to go out maybe once a month but probably less. Ds is an extremely picky eater (super taster, SPD) so options are limited and we're only willing to have him eat french fries so many times a month. He does like Olive Garden so we'll go there if we're going out for some reason. I used to go to lunch with my mom or oldest dd about once every 3-4 months to someplace like Cheesecake Factory. We have just about every possible chain restaurant and food option within a reasonable distance so it's not lack of choices.
  13. Morning. Its cold here too. I guess our lovely extra stretch summer is over. I yoga'd this morning with dd, then had my breakfast and tea. Dh made me an omelette to bring with me so I could eat without having to go out or stick with granola bars. We're taking a break from yoga next week. I'm off teaching all week and really want to sleep in some. She works retail so next week will be crazy for her. We'll get back to it after Thanksgiving. Kids are having some trouble with getting school done. I think I need to get back to assigning things to specific days again. I started just giving them all their assignments and letting them plan out the week. And that worked for a while. But lately with the Rona crazy and the house construction crazy and just general crazy, it's not working as well. I'm also thinking turning off the wifi for part of the day may be a good thing to try. 🙄 It can't be for the entire school day because ds has multiple online courses to work on, and both of them type things and send them to me on email. But we could probably do a 4 hour stretch of no wifi easily enough. I'll have to look into how that works with our system. I know it can be done. That might be something for the new year.
  14. I love 60's-70's music - Classic Rock, Protest Rock, etc. Then love Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Eagles, The Who era of Classic Rock (some overlap with 60/70's but some getting into 80s). Newer stuff I really like Adult Alternative - Imagine Dragons, Panic at the Disco, Coldplay, 21 Pilots, Fall Out Boy. My playlists often are an insane mix.
  15. My 12: 😳 😮 😊 👍 😉 🙂 🙄 😅 🤪 😘 🥰 Not sure this one is allowed.
  16. I'm doing this without reading previous answers. It looks like I'm the right age for your list. 😉 -Gordon Lightfoot, If you could read my mind, Cotton Jenny - heard of, American? - Bryan Adams, Summer of '69 - heard of, know he's Canadian - Kim Mitchell, Patio Lanterns - never heard of - Trooper, Boys in the Bright, White Sports Car -never heard of - Rush, -British - Chris De Burgh, Lady in Red, A Spaceman Came Travelling -heard of song Lady in Red but not artist - Leonard Cohen, Hallelujah - heard of, Canadian I think - Celine Dion - Titanic theme -heard of, know she's Canadian - Tom Cochrane, Life is a Highway (he's the original, NOT Rascal Flats) - heard of, American - Dire Straits, Money for Nothing, Walk of Life - heard of, Australian I think - Doug and the Slugs, Too Bad, Making it work - never heard of - Barenaked Ladies, If I had a million dollars - heard of, pretty sure Canadian - Chilliwack - never heard of - Tragically Hip, - never heard of - Sarah McLaughlin, In the arms of a stranger - heard of, I think Canadian - Jan Arden - never heard of - Bay City Rollers, Saturday Night - American - Huey Lewis and the News - British- - Glass Tiger, Man in Motion (about a Canadian wheelchair athlete, Rick Hanson, travelling the world to raise awareness and money) - is that the song from Saint Elmo's Fire? I assume Canadian because of the details there. - Michael Buble, jazz, crooner - heard of, Canadian - Neil Young, stuff with Eagles - heard of, American - Joni Mitchell, -heard of, American - The Guess Who, heard of, British - Leona Boyd, classical guitarist, never heard of ETA: Thinking about it, some of the ones I'm sure of on first run through, on second thoughts I may be wrong (like is it Shania Twain that's Canadian, not Celine Dion? or both?). Feel free to correct. 🙂
  17. A few weeks ago I was able to go to a drive up site, fill out some information, wait about 30 minutes and get the PCR test. I didn't pay anything but I think it was submitted to insurance. Without insurance it's free and there's no copay or anything with insurance. I had results in 3 days. I have heard that as numbers surge more places are requiring appointments but it's still the same process, and it's still free. I'm in a very Blue state.
  18. 1. Early March, had Panera with my oldest daughter. Haven't eaten at a restaurant, even outside, since. Outside wasn't an attractive option for us because of weather and the way some of the temporary outdoor setups were. 2. Early March, same as #1. 3. I'm not sure. I've been craving a pina colada so someplace that I can get one of those. 😉 4. Yes, but we've never been ones to eat out very often. Dh is an amazing cook so we still manage to have all our favorite foods, prepared as well as they are in a restaurant, if not better. Dh may miss eating out more than I do since he does 99% of the cooking, but he doesn't seem to. 5. Not that I'm aware of.
  19. What Ktgrok and Lecka said. We wouldn't get our kids tested if dh or I was positive because they would be quarantining with us anyway. They don't leave the house very often as it is, and all of their contacts are also contacts of dh or I (mostly me) so it wouldn't matter for contact tracing. In addition, my son is autistic with sensory processing disorder. I was tested a few weeks back. I couldn't imagine having him get that test. He'd be flipping out for the rest of the day.
  20. I think subsequent generations being taller is a normal thing that's been happening for centuries. Due to better nutrition, etc. People 100 years ago, average height was shorter.
  21. It's so hard to compare because we're all coming from areas where things are handled so differently, and have different personal needs. I live where masking is still close to 100% in any public places. So going out to stores, etc. isn't as concerning as it would be in places where few people mask and numbers are very high. We still aren't eating out but dh and I both go to work where we are around other people, all masked and mostly distanced. If we lived with vulnerable family members, we would probably take additional precautions to lower the chances even more. If I lived in one of the places with no/few masks and super crazy spread, I'd probably not leave my house for any reason.
  22. Morning. I can't remember if I ever checked in yesterday or not. Yesterday I was lazy. I slept in a little bit, met up with my teacher to go over some things we're going to do to allow class makeups for when we have to close (already happened twice), did some cleaning at the science center (finally tackled my desk), went to the storage unit, then came home and read a romance novel. Today I have to do the laundry and plan classes for the week. Next week we are closed all week for Thanksgiving so I'll be able to do the rest of the big reorganizing at the science center and catch up on a few weeks of classes. Then we have only 3 weeks of classes before we are off 2 weeks for Christmas/New Year's, and I'll be able to finish up classes for the year during those weeks (hopefully). Dh is working outside on the house again this weekend. They are stuccoing the chimney, finishing the flashing(? I think) and not sure what else. Dd and I are at the point where we only meet twice a week. She's working a lot of hours and Sundays are her only day off so she wants to sleep in, so we meet Wednesday and Friday.
  23. You have to go to different cashiers or spread out a little bit for that to work.
  24. Thank you. I did look at razor clams. These seem to be thicker but I'll look more and see if that's a possibility.
