  1. :iagree: The Catholic Textbook Project is supposed to be coming out with grade 1-4 books in the fall of 12.You could try e-mailing them to see if that's still accurate. I found RC History to be difficult to schedule. I do think it's a really good program, it's just not open and go. I'm often accused of not being Catholic enough...I can't make everyone happy. I can only do the best that I can for my kids with what's available to me.
  2. I'm filing this year! I'm working on my final plan now, so I can finish my purchases. :D
  3. We take the month of June off (usually) and start back to school the Monday after July 4th. It's too humid here to really play outside in July & August. We take our family vacations in the fall and winter. During our 4-5 weeks "off" of school, the kids do the Summer Bridge workbooks and Math workbooks. I spend this time planning the next year out. This year I am doing the complete 36 week filing!!:D
  4. I'd recommedn that you pm jenn at guest hollow. What she is planning sounds like what you are looking for.http://www.guesthollow.com/homeschool/curriculum.html
  5. Thanks Crimson Wife! My son really wants to do Medieval next year ( 7th grade). For 8th I'd like to do U.S. History. Or should I do U.S. for 7th and All Ye Lands ( overview year) for 8th?? I just can't decide!! We did U.S history through the Civil War 2 years ago, but that's as far as we made it.I saw that they came out with a workbook cd, it looks great. Part of the problem I'm having with pre-planned curriculum is my son hates historical fiction, but he loves the hands on activities that WP offers.
  6. Your not the only one!! My son loves Winter Promise, yet I keep feeling pulled to Catholic Textbook Projects books....which means I'd have to plan out my year myself. There are just too many great choices out there!
  7. We start our new year the Monday after July 4th. Then, we take vacations throughout the year, usually a week in the spring and a week in the fall. We take the whole month of December off, a week for Thanksgiving, a week for Easter. Occasionally a Mom sanity break for a day or two.
  8. I looked at the Hyland's stuff, but none of the stores near me carry it. I can only find it on amazon, unless I go to the vitamin shoppe that's 30 miles away. I'd rather do the homeopathic things than prescriptions. Thanks for letting me know that they do work! I might take a road trip this weekend!
  9. My kids don't really like juice. My 12 yr old drink about 2 oz of orange juice with his meds in the morning, but that's it. We mostly drink decaf tea and water. Occasionally, I'll buy the clear Kool-aid or Country time Lemonade. It's a lot of lifestyle changes, but I think following the Feingold Diet helped a lot...and kept my older son off of meds for several years. Once puberty it though, we had to change tactics.:tongue_smilie:
  10. The Feingold diet is great. We've followed it for about 3 years now. It's helped a lot. My 4 yr old is sensitive to caramel food coloring...which is in Coke! That was the end of us drinking soda! You wouldn't think apple juice would bother a child, it's a natural juice. You just never know what will effect a person.
  11. Welcome home!! Moving is always eventful...in one way or another! Glad you all made it safely. Take Care!
  12. I'm with you there. I've been watching it but it hasn't caught me like original has. I hope they don't drop any more team members. I miss Gideon. I still see him in re-runs!
  13. Good Luck with the new treatment, I hope they help your son. It's great that there's so many new options available. We also do the multi vitamin & Omega 3, but in gummies.Good luck to you also!
  14. Thanks. You hang in there too. It's hard trying to find the right thing to help your child.
  15. I can check into that. There is a Chinese Dr locally, who specializes in alternative medicine. A friend of ours has had good results with her, but for smoking and allergies. I'll give our friend a call and see what he says. Thanks!
  16. For sure! I'm happy that someone's coming out with a Catholic CC. I was pondering coming up with my own thing, but I don't have the time!
  17. I do wonder if Emily is going to show up on the new show, Suspect Behavior. The red cell team seems to operate outside of normal FBI parameters. They might be able to feed her intel and such.
  18. Thanks! I will look into those technique's and supplements. I really want to get him off of the Ritalin.
  19. Keep me informed on how the supplements help! Vyvnase didn't have any effect on my son, so he's on Ritalin now. I really hate giving my child speed. Once he started puberty, I had to do something. Hopefully, we can both find something that will help our son's!
  20. Halley Thanks for all of the information! I'll check into those supplements. I do think he is anxious from genetics or environmental causes . I've often wondered if his anxiety is from the nitrates in the water when he was little. We lived in an area where we would regularly receive notice that the nitrates were too high and to use bottled water. This is from when he was 2-5 yrs old. It was fertilizer run off from farms. That was when I started noticing a lot of anxiety in him. The ADHD and dyslexia are also in the family. I really don't like him being on Ritalin, but it has helped him to be able to control his fidgeting etc so that he can do his school work. Thanks so much!
  21. My dh thinks that J.J. is Emily's "handler", that she's going back undercover to catch the bad guy once and for all, without the restrictions of U.S. laws. When she does, she'll come back to the BAU. Her priority is to protect the child. I do think Hotch knows that she's alive...he knows everything that goes on in the BAU.
  22. I looked into it. I love their sample pages. However, unless you can attend one of their learning centers, you can't buy the materials. I emailed them and was told that they will have their materials available in a year. It will be an online enrollment. This one is similar and available now. http://catholicschoolhouse.blogspot.com/p/academics.html I'm thinking about it. Hope that helped!
  23. I had it. I just sold it this week. Turns out my child does better with a textbook. I'd be happy to answer any specific question you have.
  24. Basically, yes. He has too much anxiety to talk about it. He was so anxious last summer when he was being tested for ADHD. He kept asking us why we thought he was broken and why we couldn't love him the way he was. It made me so sad. He was always anxious, even as a little boy...about everything. He worries over things that I wouldn't expect him to. I went to a Mom's night out, he worried the entire 3 hours I was gone , that I was going to die in a car wreck because he wasn't with me. I'll try to talk to him again about seeing a child psychiatrist. The last one he saw , he said she pushed him to talk about things he didn't want to talk about. It made him very angry and he was depressed every week after talking to her. He said because she made him talk about his problems, it made him think about them. I'll check into hypoglycemia...anythings possible. Thanks!
