  1. I turned the big 4-0 in January, and it didn't bother me as much as I thought it would.
  2. Or maybe it was my husband!
  3. Wow! :thumbup1: I'm so impressed! My boys would love a cake like that. I don't suppose you want to make another one and ship it to Ohio???
  4. I have a copy of the new WTM anniversary edition and I just realized it is missing pages 751-782. :001_huh: I bought it from Peace Hill Press at the Midwest Homeschool Convention. I am going to contact PHP Tuesday for a replacement copy, but just wanted to pass this along in case anyone else had the same problem and didn't yet know it. So, check your books everyone. My friend bought her copy from Amazon, and she is not missing these pages. So maybe only the very first batch, that went to Peace Hill Press, is defective. Or, maybe it is just my book. :glare:
  5. Thanks for the link! :001_smile:
  6. TT4 was just printed and shipped, so no one has experience with it yet. Mine arrived today.
  7. Have you looked into Square Foot Gardening? I think it is a good system for novice gardeners. It really cuts down on the weeding.
  8. My husband's co-worker was diagnosed with thyroid cancer a few years ago. He had surgery and radiation. His voice was hoarse for awhile after the surgery, but that did get better. He is now fine and happily retired and playing with his grandchildren. I'll be praying for you! :grouphug:
  9. Thanks so much ladies! I had tried to find the answer on the Internet, and had no luck, but I knew the Hive could help me. :D I am relived to know I don't have to put up a fence this weekend. I can't wait to harvest some rhubarb! I wish I didn't have to wait until next year. Now, does anyone have a good recipe for rhubarb bread? :bigear:
  10. Will deer and rabbits eat rhubarb plants? I'd rather not put up a fence if I don't need to. But, I also don't want to feed all my rhubarb to the critters. Does anyone know if my plants will be safe without a fence?
  11. Praying here! I had the pleasure of hearing Jessica Hulcy speak at the Midwest Homeschool Convention last year. She is such a dynamic and vivacious person. It's hard to imagine such a vibrant spirit lying in a hospital bed.
  12. Thanks so much! :001_smile:
  13. Could you provide a link to the original thread? I would like to read more about quarter planners. Thanks!
  14. Thanks for this recommendation. I just ordered The Sentence Family for my visual learner who struggles with grammar. :)
  15. Evan-Moor's Daily Paragraph Editing and Daily Geography Practice. Ds12 loves these, and is disappointed he has aged out of them. (They only go through 6th grade and he starts 7th in the fall) www.evan-moor.com
  16. I usually do my planning in an excel spreadsheet, and then print it out and put it in a binder so we can check off assignments as we go. But I have also used forms from Donna Young, and the Tanglewood Core book. I like Tanglewood better for younger children, and Donna Young for older kids.
  17. I have had my copy for almost a month now, and haven't had the chance to read it, and it is killing me! May is an extremely busy month for my family. But this coming weekend is wide open so I plan to read, read, read. :D
  18. If I were you, I would watch "Designed to Sell" on HGTV for inspiration and ideas. And, I would take down all the wall paper and paint the walls light, neutral colors. Definitely declutter, and remove family photos from view.
  19. Asthma can feel like different things to different people. In my opinion, your symptoms are consistent with mild asthma. One thing you can try is to buy some Primatene Mist (over the counter) and use it the next time you feel short of breath. If it seems to help your breathing, that would point to asthma. This is how I discovered I had asthma. :001_smile: (I did then see a doctor and was officially diagnosed with asthma, and now carry a rescue inhaler.)
  20. Hmmm.... sounds interesting. I think I need to try something like this. My oldest will be in 7th grade this coming year, and the work load is getting heavier. I want to ensure that we still can take time for field trips and other fun events as they pop up. Maybe the solution I am looking for is to extend our school year, so we can keep some flexibility, but still accomplish all we need to academically.
