  1. And doesn't it make it a perfect teaching moment? I know I would discuss it with my 9 year old daughter if she saw the ad. I say this as a proud, liberal feminist. Like I said, I have much more of an issue with teaching kids that the NFL/football is fine to watch and support when 1/3 players will deal with a TBI.
  2. Exactly. And it can be used as a teaching moment if you think your kids would benefit from that. And then follow it up with a discussion on how ridiculous it is that her face is perfectly clean after taking a bite out of such a messy looking burger. I mean, COME ON! <_<
  3. Honestly, I have more of an issue about this than a silly ad. I think celebrating a sport that can be so dangerous to its players is a bigger deal than an annoying commercial.
  4. I could care less. But I am from MA so my FB timeline will be filled with it. ;) We do have the TiVO set to tape the Puppy and Kitten Bowls, though, of course!
  5. If you do buy another dress I would buy a little black dress - that can be worn multiple times and dressed up differently each time.
  6. Why is it ridiculous, exactly? Why is one claim that god spoke to them acceptable but other claims are considered fabricated? And Albeto wasn't calling these claims credible to HER so who cares what her beliefs are?
  7. I'm just going to stick this right here.... http://www.yogiapproved.com/yoga/dylan-werner-balance/ :svengo:
  8. I'm not a fan of Taylor Swift but this is one of my top 5 Onion articles ever. Cracks me up even still. http://www.theonion.com/articles/taylor-swift-now-dating-senator-joseph-mccarthy,31861/
  9. Rivka, thank you for all of that! And the book rec. I went ahead and ordered a used copy. :) Regular income will be a thing but I think it can be a gradual "thing." If that makes any sense. LOL
  10. Thank you for the food for thought! I just ordered a book on starting a private SLP practice so hopefully it ends up being a good guide. So much to consider!
  11. True. Plus I am a sinner so, according to Albeto's post, god doesn't listen to sinners anyway. But...wait...isn't the go to line "we are all sinners?" My head hurts. :confused1:
  12. Any BTDT stories? Pros? Cons? It's something I am seriously mulling over. I have worked in public and private schools, a clinic and also someone else's private practice. Currently I just have one private client on my own and I see him at his home. (I am a Speech Language Pathologist, in case you can't tell from my name :) ). I am thinking the pros outweigh the cons for me but I would love to hear any stories!
  13. You realize there are plenty of people who have done exactly as you have suggested and have come to realize there is no god or that they do not believe in this version of god. And you are also assuming that the existence of god debate means the existence of the god from the Christian mythology. And I'm not sure what it means that grace and long suffering is why god allows confusion. Sounds like he's being a jerk. And no comment on quoting the bible. I will never, ever understand that tactic when trying to participate in a discussion with people who do not believe the bible is the word of a god.
  14. I love my Dutalier. It has a rocking ottoman and can be tilted back. I have had it for a decade this summer and it has held up well although I do need to replace the pillows.
  15. Good point. Common sense leads me to easily accept scientific explanations, not mythological ones.
  16. A little study into evolution and scientific literacy can go a long way.
