  1. I'm sry I was in a huge hurry and tried to give just the basic info! At my Sams club in the photo dept. there is a sign (Costco too I believe) that for $20 they will put a VHS tape (home movie) onto DVD. Does that help?
  2. Funny you post this, I just texted my dh saying how much I love him and how happy I am that we get to hang out this weekend doing household and family stuff! yay dh!!
  3. My sister has offered us her brand newish rod iron bed w/ footboard that I LOVE. The problem is that the bed we have now matches our nightstands and has no footboard. Question #1) how bad will it the wood night stands look with the rod iron bed (they are currently unpainted and I have no problem painting or staining them) and #2) since the kids have a habit of kind of gliding (jumping) onto my bed after entering the room, how many will hurt themselves on the footboard? Can one mix rod iron & wood? Pictures or ideas welcomed!! Dh told me I could do whatever I wanted to the very much needed update in our bedroom and I have no idea where to start! Thanks in advance!
  4. Thanks for the great ideas! As far as the banana goes, you made me laugh. A lady in my husbands office emailed me a picture of a "group of apples arranged as artwork" on my husbands desk. Apparently, he only eats the apples when I cut them and hand them to him at home!
  5. I love my pampered chef baking stones, and spatualas (heat resistant!) We also have their knives and I've liked them. I actually bought my cookwear at costco ($100 for basic set). In the 15 years of marriage, I'm on my 3rd set. I've always bought cheap sets and we really do cook 3 meals a day in them. My costco set is going on year 3 and looking/working great still! Anyone have an expensive set you've adding to through the years?
  6. Many of the save money thread contained dh's taking lunch to work. My dh does but gets tired of the same sandwhiches every day. What are your dh's getting in their lunches or when you go to the park with the kids, what are you packing? Thanks for new ideas! :)
  7. keep in mind the hop dee doo is one of the oldest dinner/dance shows and hardest to get into. We went last year and even the 12 yr old boy liked it. It is all you can get ribs & fried chicken, which I'm sure helped but we all found it entertaining! If anything, I'd drop a character meal ~
  8. OK I'll only add a bit to this. Dh is wonderful in that he lets me do what I feel lead to do. There has been more then one time when forever reason I have wanted to give to a family. I always felt funny just giving them money OR whatever I was giving. I personally wanted God to be given the credit not me, so I gave anonymously with a card that said "you are loved"... I know if I were on the receiving end of the gift, I'd be embarrassed. Once I gave a grocery store & gas gift card and to another newly single mom with 3 very young children, I actually gave two HUGE boxes of food (put on her porch before the sun rose so she opened the door to a surprise!) because I'd overheard her saying she never had time or energy to take all the littles with her to the store. The mom I gave gave the food to expressed to a mutual friend how awesome it was b/c now she knows her kids like green beans (which she didn't use to buy). I also included a few bags seasonal oreos, which she said now every time she sees them, she remembers she is loved. Just my $.02
  9. [quote name=LaurieNE;160341 Oh' date=' I haven't bought paper towels or napkins in years. We always used cloth diapers. All the things you said. We don't waste. Frugal-lite- We do take road trips. We try to do it cheaply, but we do them. I use the AC during heat waves, no question. And I also have an olive oil habit. Ok honest question here... for me I haven't given up the paper towels for cloth. I'm thinking, and correct me if i'm wrong, that washing is wasting more water and detergent then cheap paper towels or napkins???
  10. Family fun for the kids, Shape & Fitness for me, and Scene (nascar) for Hubby!
  11. I watch it b/c I tend to agree with and have learned from why people keep JUNK. They also have shared good storage tips, and easy decorating ideas. It is also filmed in the LA-ish area, which.. I'm in so its fun to see them in towns I know. I like trading spaces too!
  12. yep yep, we do the SAME thing at our spiti (house). My pappous' (grandpa) father was a first generation American, I was surprised to hear it was thought to be from a culture other than Greece when the subject was brought up a month or so ago!
  13. My fav is when in a Target type store and I ask the employee where something is and the response is I dont' know. WELL.. then WHO does????????
  14. OK heres a comment from me that makes me sound snarky even though I don't mean it that way.... You were being nosey asking who was involved in the conversation. At that point you didn't know what the conversation was about. The response from the teenager seems like he was in the middle of a joking discussion with his parents and answered like a teen who is use to sarcastic humor. We use sarcastic humor in this house and I find my kids use it with those they are comfortable with. is it possible the kid feels comfortable with you and yet you are being sensitive? Honestly, my reply to the smarty teen if infact being his moms best friend, you are also close with the family would have been a remark back about him watching how he classifys those who are "important" cas its me who calms his mom and keeps him out of miliary school & me who will be purchasing his graduation gift!
  15. I'm a country music loven girl at heart whom sometimes listens to go old fashion long haired rock n roll when I work out. HOWEVER.... tonight.. tonight I have to attend a Bad Religion concert (KROQ,MTV band) because dh likes them. :001_huh: He says hes been to a few country concerts with me and thinks I should go with him. The difference is.. he likes country and even owns boots! I'm pretty sure I'll be the ONLY chickie there wearing cowboy boots~ I will grin and bear it b/c its a date out with the hubby doing something he wants to do. I just think its going to cost him a few drinks. What have you done that was completely out of your style of fun for your partner or kido?
  16. OOHHH !!! We LOOVEED the LA Cast!! All the females in the family (even the 4yr old) went to see it in LA and can't wait to go back!! pop-u-lar..... is my 4 yr olds FAVORITE song and she can quote the entire soundtrack by heart! BTW< did you catch Ceaser the dog whisperer on the set with the cast dog?
  17. Yes to all of these above and facebook, and i have the passwords.
  18. Acidophilus-- Lactobacillus acidophilus is a lactic acid producing bacteria thought to have beneficial effects on digestion and overall health. I take mine in pill form from the local health store (or target!) . Its the GOOD bacteria in Yogurt but in pill form is fine too. It boost our immune systems.
  19. umm.. no "looking cool" has NOTHING to do with it. My daughter got one in 7th grade after being broken down on the freeway at 10pm at night with the youth pastor- The youth pastor didn't want the parents to worry so he didn't call the parents. My 10 yr old son got one a few months ago b/c he walks to & from baseball practice 3X a week alone and I'd like him to be able to get ahold of us. There aren't payphones around like there use to be. I see no reason for the kids to NOT have phones if they are being used correctly. We do have rules, no phones at the dinner tables, nor at church or on fmaily outtings period.
  20. :iagree: In California you have to take a few tests & classes and even then it is not a for sure thing to get a permit. Although I'd bet cash or cookies that you'd never guess it if you met me IRL, I have a permit to carry. When testing for my permit I was very surprised at the people in the class with me. There were professionals, grandmas and young married couples. I bet many would be shocked to find your cashier at the local grocery store or that man at the gas pump by yours also carries. I was raised by a gun toting grandfather and married into a active in the NRA family. My children are all trained to understand gun safety and practice shooting for fun (no reason to flame me please, we follow all laws & safely rules for kids w/guns). There are certain laws such as you can not carry in court, in a post office or a law trying to get past now- within 1000 feet of a school. I'm not suprised to hear they are not allowed in a library.
  21. I know for my body just eating unlimited fruits, veggies, lean protein & working out 3-4 times a week drops off my weight like crazy (recent 25 lb loss) but I've hit a stop in the losing process and think I need to kick it up a bit? I'd like to make sure I’m eating 90g of protein and 30g of fiber a day (included in my 5 servings of my fruits & veggies) but how do I know how to count how much fiber is in an apple or how much protein a chicken breast may have? Is there an online or downloadable calorie/gram counter so I can keep track? Thanks in advance for any replys!
  22. I did this once to dh... Once and only once. When I told him "APRIL FOOLS" he was BUMMED. :glare: Crazy crazy man.
  23. May I ask, what is PBR.. at my house it stands for Professional Bull Riders budget, which honestly-- can be pretty good. And to answer your question, my mom use to say I had a Nordstroms diet on a kmart/Walmart budget... Is this being bratty? No I don't think so b/c I don't stew about it not being perfect if I can't get it my way. I just know what I want and am willing to wait for or plan it that way.
