  1. :iagree: Rod & Staff will do the trick. My daughter actually finds diagramming fun...like a puzzle.
  2. If you knew you were going to use the Zaner-Bloser manuscript or cursive, then I would stick with the free web based program. Start Write is nice if you are looking for other fonts/styles, or have multiple kids using different styles, or are just plain unsure :tongue_smilie:
  3. #2 would keep you the sanest :D I think keeping the kids together in the same history period is the only way to go. It makes it easier on mom and gives them some common ground. My kids always take history into their play and it wouldn't be as fun if they were all over the timeline so to speak.
  4. I think I am going back to bags. The filters in the canister style get soooo gross (we have pets and live on a gravel road). The canister vacuums we've had over the past six years (4 of them) all putter out and throw more dust around than they pick up. Needless to say, the dust bunnies are winning here!
  5. We are using FLL3 and WWE3 and we don't "combine" them at all. They are two separate subjects at our house, grammar and writing.
  6. :iagree: My Son loves Shel Silverstein poetry as well.
  7. I think it is a-ok! My hope/goal for having my kids read age appropriate versions of classics is that when they meet the "real thing" they will have enough of an understanding of the plot and characters that it will eleviate the fear of reading challenging literature. My 8 year old son just read a younger kiddos version of Les Miserables and LOVED IT!!! No need to wait for the teen years to love Jean Valjean :D
  8. My son is also an advanced third grader and I just ordered level D from CBD.com. It is in stock :O)
  9. Tapestry of Grace is a super "everyone included" curriculum for K or first grade and up. I would second HOD for the younger 2 or all three at this early stage in the game however, if you wanted to really keep things simple. It is all American History, but you could add other readings such as SOTW.
  10. My 7th grade daughter has recently enjoyed: Tom Sawyer A slightly abridged Jane Eyre A slightly abridged Frankenstein Island of the Blue Dolphins
  11. We have enjoyed the BFIAR and FIAR booklists - even without the teacher guides. We also LOVE Happy Phonics.
