  1. @Laura Corin Thanks for the awesome photo! I could have used furry coats like the Highland Cattle on my dog walk today! It was really windy and cold. Wish I'd brought my camera, though, as I saw a red fox coming out of the little wooded area I walk through daily. It was 4pm, but very quiet on the streets and paths. Being Good Friday during covid lockdown = only gas stations are open, but no one is going anywhere anyway. 😂
  2. The snow that appeared suddenly yesterday is gone. Confirmation that spring is really here! It's the final stretch of painting the interior of the entire house before we have to move!
  3. There will be more dog walks, painting, and push-ups today. Wish I could offer you all more variety! 😂 35 push-ups this morning!!
  4. Awesome with the running! If your body can handle it, and you enjoy it, then run! The wandering heron sounds wild! I felt similar when I saw a red fox on the road during a dog walk last week. It was just standing there looking at us at about 6pm. It was gorgeous.
  5. So glad your dh is doing better! It's a scary time to get injured, to be sure. Sounds like he's doing very well with pacing his recovery. What do you do for 'arm yoga?' Most of the yoga I know involves legs and/or core. Have a nice Good Friday!
  6. There were a few tears shed, and not tears of joy and wonder about the snow. 😉 The ground is too warm for the snow to stay, though. All the painting sounds exhausting, but the results are probably amazing! I'm sure your body needs all that food to power the painting. Hope you have a better sleep tonight. I just slept 13 hours!! Not sure how much is fatigue and how much is boredom. 🤪
  7. Phew. The snow melted and the sun came out eventually. I just returned from a chilly but lovely 1.5 hr walk with the dog. 😊
  8. I've got seasonal allergies as well as other dust/mold allergies, and I tend to do a lot better during high allergy seasons when the windows stay closed. Sometimes I have to limit my outdoor time, or go after a rain so there are less allergens in the air. I also don't sweep or dust with a dry cloth inside, rather vacuum and wipe with a wet cloth. We don't have any carpets in the house, and that really reduces allergens indoors. I've never needed an air purifier
  9. Firstly, consider starting this project a little later unless it's essential. We have to move (military) and have some reno projects stalled because non-essential businesses are not legally allowed to start new projects. Our local hardwood stores are only offering on-line or phone-in orders. The added stress of trying to do renos now is maybe not worth it. For example, if you start sanding the wood and damage the formica, you may not be able to get any replacement countertops for a while.
  10. I'm not trying to be critical of your intentions at all. It's thoughtful and you are obviously showing great love for your grandmother. All the best!
  11. The question then is whether you are going to be one of the people that do not listen to the warning to stay home during the upcoming holidays? Or will you add to the volume of people travelling for non-essential reasons. It's going to be a very tempting position for thousands of people to jump in the car and drive to grandma's for Easter.
  12. I think you have to look specifically at your own location and how they are creating and enforcing their regulations, rather than try to make comparisons between countries in these times. One thing to consider is that these upcoming holidays are definitely on the radar of officials. They don't people to start travelling and spreading the virus. The travel regulations in place now could well be different than what they decide to do for the holidays in an attempt to reduce travel.
  13. Distance is not as important as border crossing in my locale. A 5 min drive across into the neighbouring province is not allowed, and bringing groceries to a relative would not be allowed/essential. The requirement would be to find a neighbour within the province to deliver the food. That is how that province would frame their regulation. You may want to double check your local county regulations just to be sure before you start your trip. Hundreds of people have been turned back at my local provincial border crossing.
  14. I'd assume that each state would have their own rules and enforcement, and I'd have to research them all before I started on the trip. I would also assume that anything unplanned could happen on-route; any state regulations could change, I could be delayed for any reason, I may not be allowed into a state, etc. For me locally, my neighbouring province has set up border restrictions entering that province. My province has not. Only 'essential' travellers are allowed into that province. Hundreds of people have been turned back at the enforcement points daily.
  15. I think it's a very thoughtful idea. My only concern would be if you are actually allowed to travel there and back, and if you are do you have to go into quarantine yourself when you get home. I'd ensure you don't stop and shop for groceries or gas. There is always a risk that something unplanned could happen to force you to stop, though. I think the travel is the highest risk in this scenario, and that risk is on you and then your family.
  16. EEEKKKK!!! The rain has turned into huge snow flakes. I want the rain back again. 🥶
  17. I wasn't going to mention the squidge. It's a little too easy to notice the difference between hard muscle and soft squidge. I'm going with squidge = layers of skin. 😂
  18. Glad you are enjoying the strength building work-outs! I have to admit to being excited about having defined muscles as a 50+ year old lady. What kind of podcasts do you enjoy? I can't wear ear buds or head-phones, so while walking I just listen to the birds chirping. I'd like to listen to a podcast at home, though.
  19. It's raining this morning, so I'll hold off on my walks for a while. There is still push-ups, indoor exercises and painting to be done today. Dh has measured our backyard and it looks like we'll try putting up our tennis net! I think it will be hilarious to hit some balls around. Our ground is far from flat, so it will be crazy. He thought flight-restricted balls would be a good idea - that's when I knew he was serious about this project. 😂
  20. I love how you are listening to your body and trying a variety of exercises. It's excellent to have the foundation of walking and stretching. I loved swimming and being in the water during all my pregnancies! It's especially nice later on when the belly gets bigger and heavy. 😉 I loved the baby phase, too! It was exhausting, but so satisfying snuggling with the little bundle. Glad you are looking forward to it!
  21. I'll have to crack open the Zyrtec pretty soon, I guess. I've been resisting the start, but it is time. I agree with you, baby goats are amazingly cute as well. I love how playful lambs and kids are, too. Your days sound very full, active, practical and varied! My favourite combination. I really like my exercises to have a clear purpose. Entertainment is a perfect purpose for me, by the way. 😄 It's higher on the list than 'less fun intervals.' Great job with all the cleaning and painting. It is exhausting, but also rewarding in that you can see the positive results immediately!
  22. I completed my push-ups, indoor exercises, 2 dog walks, and some painting prep. I think my spring allergies are starting up. Head's getting stuffed up. So windows will only be opened when we're actually painting. This is the only thing I don't like about spring.
  23. @Laura Corin Thanks for the wonderful photo! The lambs are adorable! I just want to hug them. 😉
  24. Not literary classics, but they make me chuckle: The comedian, Jim Gaffigan, has written 2 books that are both clean and funny; Dad is Fat and Food: A Love Story.
