  1. Thinking and praying for you and your son.
  2. I hope that you can find some answers and things to help improve her overall health and wellness. ((hugs)) Just curious about whether she's seen an allergist in case of allergies and oral allergy syndrome. I have environmental allergies and OAS, and experience issues with some foods, bloating, pain, etc.
  3. I'm on day 4 of a tennis match streak and my body is feeling it. It wasn't intentional to play this much in a row, but dh and I entered our club fun tournament in mix doubles, so we have more matches due to that. It's been fun overall.
  4. I've been rather lazy of late. I'm still getting in regular tennis, though fewer dog walks and almost no strength exercises. I'm just feeling tired of the crappy spring weather and hoping for warm, sunny days. @Laura Corin Thanks for sharing the amazing photos! The scenery is breathtaking!
  5. Stuffed animals, or animal puppets? Hope the visit goes really well!
  6. That's great news! All the best to him with the negotiations!
  7. @Soror I hear you about the challenge with avoiding candy brought into the house. Preping your lunches sounds like a perfect plan! All the best! I've been getting in the daily dog walks and some stretch/strength exercises. Outdoor tennis is going to be starting up again very soon! Can't wait! It's nice to play in the dome, but far cheaper outdoors.
  8. I had all 4 of mine removed by an oral surgeon a couple of years ago. It went very smoothly. The teeth apparently came out without any issues, which was good news for my recovery. The first few hours of the recovery was the worst, with the bleeding and bandages inside the mouth. After that it was good. I kept my mouth very moist with lots of water and avoided dry sockets, fortunately.
  9. I've seen similar things happen, and the organizer went with option 3. It worked out very well. Way less stress for the organizer and they still enjoyed gathering with friends.
  10. That's a shame your current job tasks have been changed so much. You definitely could apply for the new job while still in your current job, and then make the decision on whether or not to change based on some more time in your current evolving position. I also like the sound of option D, where you stay for a while then quit when you are ready (based on the dog or not). It seems like you enjoy travelling, even within your own country, and you'd have more time to enjoy the travel and hiking while you and your dh are still young and healthy. I play tennis with many retired folks in the 60s and 70s, and none of them ever express missing work. They are enjoying having the time to be active during the time of day/week they choose, and they have far more flexibility to travel or visit family. You definitely don't NEED to keep working to prove yourself worthy to anyone else. You are amazing simply for who you are! 😀
  11. Your dh sounds like an amazing guy! I hope the company makes a terrific offer!
  12. Got in a nice dog walk this morning, and I'll do my stretch and strength exercises very soon. Tomorrow evening dh and I are playing mixed doubles tennis. Should be lots of fun! We'll also do one or two dog walks tomorrow.
  13. My favourite splurges are from the Central American grocery store, and the prices aren't bad at all: 1. Frozen tropical fruit packages for smoothies (passion fruit, mango, etc.) 2. Really nice tortillas and salsas 3. Really good refried beans
  14. I noticed the birds and geese making more noise as it became darker, then the spring peepers started croaking. It was also noticably colder as it became darker.
  15. All the best for dh in the negotiations! It sounds like his current company really really NEEDS him, and he should definitely mention all these accomplishments and skills he is bringing to the company if he stays. He could also map out how long it would take the company to train someone to do his job (should he go with another offer), and plant that seed. Also a quick estimate of the cost it would take should a production line go down for hours or days without someone in-house to be able to fix problems. He is an essential and highly valuable person!! 😀
  16. I have to say that there was more hype on this forum much further in advance to the eclipse than in my area where we had 99% totality. There was definitely some hype in the last few days, and far more hype in the nearby towns and cities with totality. I'm happy about the forewarning here, as I bought my glasses well in advance, because otherwise I wouldn't have had time. 😉 Thanks!! I did drive 60 min to be in the totality zone and it was worth it, but it's not something I'd travel far distances for in the future.
  17. We did something very similar to the OP - drove the back roads to a nice, uncrowded place to watch the total eclipse. It was worth it to see the completely covered sun and corona. The coolest part was the frogs that suddenly started croaking when it got dark. 🐸 They kept croaking for a while after it became sunny. I was also surprised at how quickly it became light again. It happened too fast.
  18. My dc have had much fewer foods they avoided than dh. And now as young adults, they're open to trying all kinds of foods, but dh is still the pickiest one. When it's just dh and I left at home, cooking is going to be either really boring, or we'll both end up making and eating our own meals every day. 🤪
  19. I played 2 hrs of ladies doubles tennis this afternoon, and have been getting in 1 or 2 dog walks in the woods daily. The snow is mostly melted now. Yay! Time for some proper spring now. 😉
  20. We got a dump of wet, heavy snow as well, but I only shovelled a tiny bit. It was crazy heavy! Got in a nice dog walk this morning, and the scenery was lovely "winter wonderland" with snow-covered trees. NOT such a wonderful for April. 😝 Had fun at tennis last night, and I have more tennis on Sunday afternoon.
  21. We got hit by a snow storm and the driving conditions are horrible this morning, so no am dog walk in the woods. I do have tennis this afternoon, and the driving should be better by then.
  22. @Laura Corin Thanks for starting the new thread this month! Hope work smooths out for everyone. Making and fixing mistakes is stressful and tiring. I got in a long walk with friends yesterday afternoon, which was lovely, then an evening dog walk with dh (also lovely). I had no energy for my strength and stretch exercises over the long weekend. My energy levels are pretty low overall. Not sure what the cause is, but I hope things improve soon! I have 2 hrs of ladies doubles tennis this afternoon, so hoping for energy then!
  23. Most of the dc's nicknames when they were young are now used as passwords rather than nicknames. They are excellent passwords, but often were not appreciated as nicknames. 😉
  24. I took the dogs for a morning and afternoon hike in the woods. No tennis until Tuesday. @Laura Corin Love the photo! Thanks for sharing!
  25. That's really helpful to hear! Thanks for sharing!
