  1. Others have shared some great titles here! If you don't mind blog visiting our ancients reading is listed in this post. We're currently reading through week twenty's selection.
  2. Thanks 8filltheheart!! Made good on the sale with the codes - much appreciated!
  3. i'm happy with our history plans because i made them for my dc with all their personality quirks, and mine, in mind. they definitely would not suit others and could very probably cause heated discussion - if placed under a forum spotlight ;) regardless, they are our schedules and we are very happy with them. a single, dependable, and accurate world history resource is a little harder so we read across the board: KFE, UILE, DK History: The definitive Visual Guide Glencoe World History Oxford (jnr) by Burrell Dorothy Mills series Famous Men of... series SOTW The Story of Man Kind Select Primary Sources Select literature (biographies, non-fiction and historical fiction; including titles used in sonlight, veritas press, oakmeadow, ambleside online etc....) interesting thread! eta: sorry for the mostly lower case typing!!
  4. thanks all , i appreciate the comments made here! as susie and sleep-drived stated: this is a section i don't want us to skip either ... looks like ds and I may be working through this section together :) if anyone else cares to comment - please do.
  5. did your student complete Part 5: Research wks 27-31? (i can not find any threads/discussion about this portion of WWS1 when I type in a search) if your student did navigate through this part of WWS1: how did you approach this portion of the course? did you change anything, as in customising it to suit your student? or did you all just ended up skipping it? :) and if you did skip it... did you use anything else in it's place? adding we're working towards completing this first text with our 13yr old - so he's not a younger student that perhaps (?) the work required would be too tedious for him. appreciate any insight into how others did (or why they did not do) this portion of wws1. (eta: please excuse the lower case post - i'm currently only able to type one handed.)
  6. Thanks for sharing your HOURS of work so generously - much appreciated! Nice job on the RRT guide, too.
  7. *Bump* (appreciating the view points shared here - thanks!)

  9. I've just followed your links over to your blogs. TREASURE troves! Really appreciate all the detail ( & extra's) you've provided.
  10. I schedule them in if they are docs that relate to science or history, and I'm wanting the dc to view them. Visual go-alongs are watched in the afternoon in our home & usually Friday seems to be the best day for that. One proviso ..... if it's a dvd that Dh wants to watch too, we'll watch it one evening all together.
  11. Recommend: The audio versions of Sutcliff's books are so well done, recommending those :) Recommend: I prefer the Memoria Press book on FMoG - love the pictures!!! Pass: Bulfinch books don't seem too sit as well as they should/could in our home - your family may really enjoy them. Suggestion: Perhaps consider the Herodotus book by Jeanne Bendick too (we only allowed 6 weeks for Greece and I just couldn't fit that into our schedule as a prescribed read, so have placed it in the free reading basket). Suggestion: Do Aesops fables feature,or have you more than covered that in earlier years? We won't have time for Colum's Golden Fleece book - so selected Jason and the Golden Fleece ~ Riordan As a fun go along we've added in Tales of the Dead: Ancient Greece (rivalry at the Olympic Games) ETA: on the off chance others are looking for free ebooks to go with A.Greece, hope you don't mind if I pop some links here: http://www.bookdepository.com/Aesop-for-Children-Illustrated-Edition-Dodo-Press-Aesop/9781409917861 Aesop http://www.bookdepository.com/Story-Golden-Age-Illustrated-Edition-Dodo-Press-James-Baldwin/9781409909095 precedes Illiad & Odyssey Ancient Greece http://www.mainlesson.com/display.php?author=baldwin&book=golden&story contents as above http://www.bookdepository.com/Odyssey-for-Boys-Girls-Illustrated-Edition-Dodo-Press-Rev-Alfred-Church/9781409918684 a. greece http://www.bookdepository.com/Story-Odyssey-Dodo-Press-Rev-Alfred-Church/9781406513707 a.greece http://www.bookdepository.com/Iliad-for-Boys-Girls-Illustrated-Edition-Dodo-Press-Rev-Alfred-Church/9781409918707 a. greece http://www.bookdepository.com/Aeneid-for-Boys-Girls-Dodo-Press-Rev-Alfred-Church/9781409926986 a. greece http://www.bookdepository.com/Adventures-Odysseus-Tales-Troy-Padraic-Colum/9781406501254 a.greece http://www.bookdepository.com/Golden-Fleece-Heroes-Who-Lived-Before-Achilles-Illustrated-Edition-Dodo-Press-Padraic-Colum/9781409943471 a.greece http://www.bookdepository.com/Story-Greek-People-Illustrated-Edition-Dodo-Press-Eva-March-Tappan/9781409927051 a. greece http://www.bookdepository.com/Helmet-Spear-Illustrated-Edition-Dodo-Press-Rev-Alfred-Church/9781409918622 stories from the wars of greeks & romans
  12. Thanks for posting this thread .... just popping over here to ask this question, as we'll be needing WW2 later this year.
  13. We're trying out dropbox right now, thanks to all the help filled options mentioned in this thread :) For anyone else 'window shopping' for a new sharing/storage space one aspect I've noticed with pdfs saved to dropbox: Some of the fonts we like to use don't translated over to the documents when you view them on dropbox - it's no big deal as when we opened the pdf all the fonts are in tact.
  14. There is a file that lines that all up on the MOH vol2 yahoo group :) http://groups.yahoo.com/group/MysteryofHistory2/
  15. Just getting back here now, appreciating the extra comments made I haven't got any further with my choice ;) ...
  16. Thanks so much! I'm going to grab a space to sit down and really check out these suggestions to find 1, or 2 ;) , that will work for us.
  17. Can you tell me ... do you need a facebook account to be able to download on scribd?
  18. You don't sound like an add :) just someone who is happy with the product. Thanks, I do appreciate the extra details you've included here!
  19. If you upload, or download pdfs or documents ..... Where do you think is the best place to store online docs? Somewhere that is free for the uploader and the downloader; and isn't dependent on having a face book account? All suggestions welcome!! :) TIA
  20. Just catching this now ... I'm off to check out your finds ;) (Thanks for listing these excellent links!! I'm going to use your extras as "visual" review.)
