  1. Anyone else doing PreK this upcoming year? My DS will be turning five in September, but since his birthday is after the cutoff for school here I'm calling it his PreK year. We're planning on RS math and HWOT. Not sure what to do about reading. We have PP, but he already reads pretty well.
  2. I live in MD and am absolutely against this bill. I'm in Montgomery county where they tried to prosecute some parents for child neglect for allowing their two kids to walk to the park by themselves. Definitely don't government personnel in my house judging me against their own personal definition of child abuse.
  3. Work is closed as are all the schools and activities. They're warning people to stay off the roads and stay in the lower levels of their houses. Had some snow and freezing rain this morning, but mostly just wind. I'm in the DC area.
  4. Thanks for the input everyone. I will be reapplying for the job.
  5. I've thought about that. I'm pretty shy so I dread having awkward conversations like that, but I may have to bite the bullet if I want this job.
  6. No, it's not a government job. That's good to know about government jobs though.
  7. So back in August I applied for a job. The job was for a senior position. I interviewed and the feedback was positive. I was told at the interview it would take awhile for them to make a decision. At the end of January I was told that they were reorganizing and they had decided not to fill the position as they were going to create a junior position instead. A few weeks later I was looking on LinkedIn and saw the job reposted still described as a senior position. My husband thinks I should reapply. Would you reapply for this position? I'm currently employed so no urgent need for a job.
  8. I'd like to think that I'm a dolphin or an elephant, but I'm probably more of a jellyfish.:)
  9. Could you explain these different types of parents? I've heard of tiger moms, but I'm not familiar with the other ones.
  10. My sister lives in the MN and makes hot dish. She said it was a requirement for converting to Lutheranism :)
  11. I am so sorry for the loss of your daughter.
  12. I'm hoping to put DS4 into one. There's one near us, but it's expensive.
  13. Oh! I need to check this out. Thanks for the heads up.
  14. Yep, that's how it is in my house. It takes longer to get them ready than they spend outside.
  15. A text book for grad school in 2001. The previous year I had ordered a book through the book store which took forever, and by the time the book came in the class was pretty much over, so this time I decided to try this new online ordering thing. I remember being so pleased with how quickly the book came right to my door.
  16. She is thank you. At least my son still enjoyed Christmas. We were to busy taking care of dd2, so just let him play on his tablet, watch tv, and eat cookies. The perfect Christmas for a 4 year old. :)
  17. Miss - dd2 got the croup for Christmas. Definitely did not appreciate that "gift". Hit - our wonderful pediatrician who opened his office on Christmas day.
  18. Amazon Prime is losing its luster for me. Too many times the 2 day shipping has turned into a week. I hope you're able to get presents somewhere else.
  19. My two year olds favorite thing is the indoor jungle gym we got her.
  20. Hello! I've been lurking for a while and think it's time to jump into the forums. I have a son that's 4 and a daughter that's 2. So obviously we're not officially homeschooling yet but looking to do so in the future. The catch is that I won't be the one homeschooling them. I work full time and my husband stays home with the kids so he'll be the one homeschooling them. Looking forward to some homeschooling support on these boards.
