  1. My girls are loving MEP. It has step by step lesson plan in the TE and it is free doenload! Girls dont even realize they are doing math most of the time.
  2. i would love a copy of this file with the game ideas if it is available?
  3. i am learning to stagger my schedules. Example if I am doing out loud work with younger dd i give older dd something to work on that does not reqiure as much concentration or she watches a vidoe online related to what she is working on. Today while me and younger dd did math older dd watched schoolhose rock videos online. We do this throughout the day until we get to together subjects. A little one on one with each one staggered through out the day.
  4. Thank you soooo much I am working on this now. I can see my hubby saying not another chart!:D
  5. we are using sfg for 4th and they have 5th and 6th it is free!!! http://www.sfreading.com/resources/ghb.html
  6. ok, each of the girls have thier own planner where the write down what they have completed each day after every subject. So that is enough? i dont need to pre plan out thier days?
  7. We were not planning on starting school until next week but my girls are so excited that they begged to start this week so we have. (can you believe my kids are begging for school? LOVE IT) I have not finished my lesson plans so we just went without them and the days have went great. So before I finish killing my hand do I even need these planners? All opinions welcome. Please tell me your pros and cons of lesson planners for day to day and what you feel works.
  8. you guys are cracking me up! Are we still discussing clutter? I dreamed about your garage last night! haha, let us know when you decide to start selling, those that have advised should get first pick shouldn't they? haha:lol:
  9. trust me it is a sickness. My husband says he cant keep anything. I have a rule in my house if it hasnt been used for more than 6 months it is out!! I find him hiding stuff all the time!!!!!
  10. do you have all the questions and answers to share? haha (great idea) must most important, where did you get that chore chart idea from???? can you explain a little more in detail on how you organize it. I love organization and we just have one chart on the fridge listed with days of the week and what chores to be done and someones names is next to them. But this looks great!!!! Please give details!
  11. where did you find the chart i searched all through her site?
  12. we just skip the money part and supplement with american money terms and worksheets off the net for free.
  13. :iagree:, we are loving MEP over here. My 9 year old hated math until MEP, my 6 year old thinks it is a play time instead of math. I have been amazed at how my children have grasped the concepts and not even known they were doing math!!!!!
  14. ok dont laugh at me (my husband says i drive him insane) but when you remove something from the box just mark it on the list with the date you took it out of the box then you can place an idex card stapled or glued to the inside cover with the box number you took it from. Oh i forgot that part you should number each box and have one MASTER list that only shows box number, subject and very brief decscriptions in every box. This way you dont have to look at every list on each box. Now you would be tempted to just make a master list and not place one on each box, BIG mistake, take it from me you will lose that master list and all your effort is gone.
  15. I dont have near that many hs books yet but i am a very organized person as clutter causes me to short curcuit. I would first organize by subject into seperate boxes and then cross reference by grade. I would also make a master list for each subject box and list all grade levels, name of curriculum, and maybe even likes or dislikes and place this in a plastic protector sheet and tape to the top of the box. This would be a long process with as many as it sounds like you have but what a joy when you are finished. I even do this with extra bed linens and it is so much easier to find when i want to change the linens for spring or fall. Anyway hope this idea helps!!
  16. what about en espanol 1? I have this with extra book and audio cd's. I cant post for sale yet i am still to new but you can pm me if you would like. I would say you need to know some spanish to teach this or maybe i am not looking at it correctly.
  17. Has anyone used Latin for beginners by Benjamin L. D'ooge? If so how was it to teach for someone who has no latin exp. I want to introduce my 9 year old to latin but my budget is spent now. This has a free download and the answer key. Any thoughts?
  18. I purchased a project display board (you know like you use for science projects) cut it into 4 parts vertical and placed them on the wall. This gave us a 9 foot long time line that is about 1 foot wide. You can use clear packing tape to connect on the back side to fold up accordian style when you need to put away. I used velcro down the center and will use 100 years as time marker. We are doing MOH vol 1 but wanted to have a little more freedom to add in other things like great composers and figures from our science. This will give us plenty of room. I have another project board ready to add if it is needed. I am hoping 9 feet will be enough haha! Good Luck!!!!
  19. you could supplement with MEP. It is mental math and it's free. My girls are loving it!! http://www.cimt.plymouth.ac.uk/projects/mep/default.htm
  20. thank you, any other suggestions?
  21. My girls and I have started Anne Of Green Gables. This is our first year HS so of course their first real exposure to the classics. We started off with something alot lighter like the Aesop's Fables and have moved into our first book. All is going well except they have a hard time understanding some of the words I read. They are having to stop me often and ask what does that mean? Is this a good aproach to this? I decided on the original publishing in order to get the full richness of the text. Should I go with something more updated? Is there a good study giude to help them? My 9 year old is really into the story my 6 year old is kind of just along for what she picks up. I just wasnt sure if I should stop through out the story to explain everything.
  22. i agree MEP my girls are loving it 1st and 4th grade!
