  1. Ok, no wonder my older dd isn't having any issues with Spelling Workout! Seems like all I need to consider All About Spelling. But I had been avoiding it because the description I read made it seemed like it has too many components. Does it require a lot of prep? How "open and go" is it? Can someone give me a brief summary of what all is involved? (Or post a link that explains this?) Thanks! Edited for typos
  2. We are using Spelling Workout and my 3rd grade dd is having a problem retaining correct spelling. She does very well on her tests after each lesson but later when I give tests on mistakes she's made in previous lessons, she gets them wrong again. Suggestions?
  3. My son is taking Geometry online with Derek Owens. It's going very well. It's not live though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. - any and all textbooks (Holt Earth Science and World History) - will do Logic stage elemental science instead. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Will Advanced Language Lessons be out before the next school year starts?
  6. We are also enjoying FLL 3 a lot more than FLL 2. It doesn't take us much time at all. We use it for grammar only and skip narrations because we get plenty in WWE. Once you're familiar enough you can modify the script to suit you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Full?! [emoji15] My ds is going DO Geometry and will go on to use him for Precalculus and Calculus. But I guess I want to know what the setup is for Clover Creek. If not by videos, then how are the lessons delivered? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Which have you tried, benefited from, and liked most? My daughter is a creative writer and has done IEW last year. So Kidswrite Basic may be too easy. Passion for Fiction? Powerful Fiction Techniques? Any other suggestions?
  9. Both have great reviews, but I'm trying to choose what best suits my child's learning style. Can someone please explain how these classes differ in terms of content, difficulty, and actual setup? (And anything else you can think of!)
  10. Just an update: I repeated one sentence at a time as many times as needed. Then had her repeat it back before moving on to the second sentence. She has improved greatly and doesn't seem frustrated anymore. We will gradually move on to dictating both sentences at once. Thanks for all your ideas! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. For the Reading and Writing Sections I recommend Erica Meltzer's books. For Math, Steve Warner's "Get 800" series is good. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. How do you find using BA as a supplement to Saxon? I've been considering it, but would it be too time consuming to do both?
  13. Zaccaro's Math books are great supplements Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Center for Lit. My 6th grade dd loves it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. I saw it several times. It provided great clarification! But Dan is 13, so maybe maturity makes it easier? My dd is 8. Will try all the suggestions and hopefully it will get easier. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Thank you all so much for your ideas! I think I may just have to break it down and gradually increase retention ability. Or at least have her repeat it back to me broken down. Then put it together and write. Then increase until we can retain it all. The last thing I want to see is tears of frustration from the book & subject she most loved. 17. My dd finished WWE 2 with no problems whatsoever. In fact, this was her all time favorite subject. We just started WWE 3. She has no problem summarizing, but the dictation suddenly became difficult for her - although I repeated the sentence 7 times! She started whining and groaning about how hard it is, and I really don't want her to lose her love for it! How can I make it easier?
  18. My son is about to start DO's geometry class next week and DO said we needed to purchase the textbook. Can someone please put a link for the solution's manual needed for the practice problems that DO doesn't grade?
  19. Please share what worked well (or what didn't) for grades 6-8. Thanks!
