  1. The Build a Pyramid idea is fabulous! Thank you!
  2. Ok so I started one yesterday and I don't like it. It looks extremely lame. I have an Aroumd the World border which includes Greece, Rome, Egypt, etc. which I like. I used some wall posters I picked up from RR. It looks boring! What else would you put on your wall? I wanted a timeline but I don't have the room so that plan went out the door. Would you google for pictures? Laminate them? I'm just at a loss! My schoolroom doesmt look nearly as awesome this year as in the past and it's not helping me get out of this unmotivated rut!:glare:
  3. Don't get me wrong! I loved my file box last year for many reasons. The main one was it helped keep me on track and things actually got done. What I didn't like is that the curriculum I changed ended up being thrown out like CLE Math. I can't schedule MUS like that because I dont ever know how long it will take my DC to understand the concept in each lesson. I really need some lesson Planning ideas so I can get more motivated! I haven't gotten anything done and I feel like I'll never be ready to start school. I would love a planning idea that will motivate me to start planning so we can start on Aug 22nd! I did love my DC having their own notebook of things to do each week filed under each individual day. Workboxes are difficult because they take up too space.
  4. I am in need of timeline suggestions. I know of timelines and the new beautiful ones from Pandia Press, but I just did a wall for Ancient History and the wall is about 5 ft long. I really need the timeline to fit in this space. I thought I was all set with the timeline until I pulled the one I have out of the bag and its 10 ft. long! I would love suggestions! I would cut the timeline I currently have but it says "Ancient History" across the top of it so it would break the words and wouldn't look right.
  5. Can someone please explain this to me? What do I need to purchase if I use it? Is the teacher's manual required? I noticed they are labeled 3/4 and 5/6. Does this cover 2 grades? I'm looking at it for a 2nd and 3rd grader. How do the experiments work? Are there any? If so, is there a kit to purchase with the items you need?
  6. Yep! that's the one I am looking at. It's the same on RR and Christian Book both have.
  7. Thank you so much for this! Now, at least, I know I can order the kit. Did you order the kit from Rainbow?
  8. I was just looking through old threads and it got me thinking. Is it better to start Apologia Botany in the Spring rather than in the Fall? Should I start in the Fall with something else?
  9. I'm bumping this for you because I'm also interested. I'm getting ready to purchase this. Have you purchased it yet and received it? If so, can you update this thread? Thanks!
  10. I just went and looked again. It was B that listed all the extra things not included in the kit. I think we have settled on Apologia Exploring Creation with Botony. I just found that I can order the kit of supplies to go with it from Christian Books.
  11. I have both. We completed FLL 1 sometime ago, but then didn't continue. I wanted to continue with FLL 2 this year and purchased the new version. It was worth it to me just because it is bigger and less cluttered. I bought it for $10 so it wasn't that big of a deal to me.
  12. I was viewing the samples for C and D and it looked as though you needed to have a lot more then water that isn't included in the experiment kits. I think it was D where it listed like 10 things on the shopping list for the following week. Can someone confirm this? Is this only that particular week in D?
  13. Does Sonlight include all the materials needed for the experiments?
  14. I will rejoice with you! We LOVE MUS here! If it wasn't for MUS, My DD would not "get" math the way she does.
  15. What book are those coloring pages from? My DS would love those! I love the way you have hung all her work with clothespins on the wall. That is an awesome idea and it also shows your DC how proud you are. Thank you for the idea! I have wall space to cover in our schoolroom and this will work perfectly.
  16. I am not sure how the two relate, but my children who knew all their letter sounds, etc and even began reading by the age of 4, could not color in the lines. My DS who is 4 is nothing like his brother and sisters. I have been very concerned because he doesn't know his letter sounds and can not identify his numbers or letters. I have started working more with him at home and he has started coloring in some of the workbooks we have. I almost fell out of my chair last week when I saw his coloring. He is so particular and colors in such short strokes. He doesn't ever go out of the lines and if he does, it frustrates him and he wants to start over. He colors better than my DD who is 8.
  17. Your describing Saxon. I have it sitting right here next to me actually and most of those things are included in the big bucket.
  18. I really need an adult size table since I'm usually sitting with them while we do school.
  19. I have checked Craigslist with no luck. Hadn't thought about consignment stores. Thanks for the idea.
  20. I saw this picture this morning just before leaving for IKEA. I was looking for bookshelf ideas. It motivated me to line my whole wall with bookshelves from the floor to ceiling. They will go up tomorrow. I am super excited!
  21. I am posting here hoping that someone will have a suggestion. I went to IKEA today and bought another bookshelf and a table top with the separate attachable legs. I had planned on putting the table I bought back to back with the table I already had to make one huge big square table. Well....it does NOT look good! I need a circular table and I couldn't find one at IKEA unless I want to spend $200. Does anyone have a circular table they use in their schoolroom to sit at the same table with their children? I would love links even if you purchased it online.
