  1. Ohh goodness...I feel like crying for you...I hope when you get to eat all the lovely meals you are about to prepare you can enjoy them thoroughly, knowing what an effort was put into them...
  2. Cute! That'll teach up to be lax on your Disney family tree knowledge...
  3. We really enjoyed ATW because it was more than simply Geography...It was a great mix of history as well as Geography, and the kids really could breeze through areas that weren't that interesting to them and dig deep into things that got their attention...we had lots of fun with it...
  4. I know how crazy this will sound...but I will say it anyway... Honey is an excellent treatment for burns...including sunburns and blisters...raw honey is so healing... And I understand if you think I might be crazy...I wasn't convinced until we tried it...and it worked beautifully...
  5. My son loves this Algebra program...I got it for him after a few misses with other Algebra programs. He started reading the book (he wasn't really *scheduled* to start until September, but we got it in July and he wanted to investigate), and literally does not want to stop doing it! He had completed nearly all of it within a month. He has 2 chapters to go, and he can't wait to start the next book...He works on it (by choice lol) for about 3 or 4 hours a day!! Go figure!
  6. That's awesome! We have driven around for the past 2 days looking for a used vehicle for my niece, and it has been a real eye opener to see all the 'clunkers' filling up the car lots...finding a decent priced *used* car seems to be a problem since so many used ones are being eliminated...I don't know what to think about the program, but it is great that you got a good deal and have no payments!!
  7. We love them, but we do use other LA as well, as for my kids they are a bit light. The illustrations are great, and the simplicity is refreshing...
  8. I have been eyeballing this program for months, nice to hear the great feedback...I think I may just go ahead and order :) Thanks!
  9. My husband planted *way* too many tomatoes in our garden...I would love to find good use for them. I was thinking about making some salsa and sauce, but have no clue how to do it...Any good recipes? I have a canner, but was told not to use it with our ceramic top stove, so I'm not sure what to do...(not to mention I don't know how to can)... I would love to hear what you would do with all of these tomatoes...
  10. To keep your tummy covered you could try a Belly Hugger or something similar... (I think there is one called Bella Band...I am sure there are other I just can't remember the names right now! lol) They are great because they just go under your shirt...for my babies the nursing cover was just something they could swat at and try to knock down lol...
  11. I have a student going into 9th grade, and I am suddenly stressing about credits...I have read that CQLA is a full LA course, but I don't see Literature in the samples...Does anyone know? If I need to do lit separate, does anyone have any recommendations on a program that would go well with it?
  12. I have done my own perms, but I am trained as a hairdresser...I thought it was really hard to do my own, but it worked...My arms ached from holding them above my head for so long! lol I would be really careful about the type of perm you use if you decide to do it...I think you mentioned you color your hair...some perms that are safe for color treated hair are only safe for certain types of color...(depending on if it is permanent or semi permanent makes a difference, as well as if it is permanent color the level of developer you use can make a big difference in what perms are going to work well or which ones will fry your hair). The size of rods used will make the biggest difference in the size of the curl. My hair curls really easily and if I use anything smaller than a purple rod I get poodle hair...my mom is the exact opposite...her hair is more resistant, so I have to use smaller than purple (often white and gray) to even get a body perm look for her...so many factors to think about:) I have had better luck having someone else do it (they turn out better for me), but in a pinch I think I could do it again myself...
  13. Anyone used it? Any thoughts or opinions are welcome:)
  14. I just got these for my struggling math student...she is having a tough time retaining her times tables and I wanted to try something different to help her...but looking at these, I am not sure about them... Has anyone used them and what results did you get with them? Good/bad/indifferent? I'm :bigear:
  15. I am trying to choose a spelling program for my dd for next year. She is 8 and she is doing 4th grade work. Although her Grammar seems to be right on track, her reading comprehension and spelling are very advanced. I am looking for suggestions for Language Arts for the upcoming year. She is reading (and has excellent comprehension) at a 7th grade level, and her spelling (according to the Phonetic Spelling placements) is at a high school level. I want to get her fun, age appropriate things (and 4th grade grammar), but need the challenge of a higher level for Reading and Spelling...any ideas??
  16. I'm in South Central PA, too:) We are at the intersection of Franklin County, Juniata County and Perry County. Kara
