Is this my furnace or air conditioner?

My air conditioning is not working.  When I go outside and look at the machine it is moving full-blast and cold air is coming out.  No air is coming into my home through the forced air vents.  When I turn off the air conditioner and turn on the fan, there is still no air coming out.  Should I call the furnace or air conditioner company?  Is this likely an expensive problem?  The air conditioner is 10 years old.  Will I likely need a new one?

Where we live, the same company would do both heating and air conditioning. If it's really two different companies, call the AC company since that's what you want right now. (Sorry--can't help with the actual diagnosis of the problem)

Since the air conditioner is not working, that's who you call.  10 years tends to be about the life of an a/c (at least where I live).  A whole new one was $13,000 a couple years ago.  Best wishes!

It’s an HVAC company. We’ve had something similar twice, once the compressor had frozen up & once a fan inside needed to be replaced. They were both under $300 total.

If I needed to refer to it on the scheduling call I'd just call it the "outside unit."

With no air coming out, I would wonder if the ducts have come apart somewhere.  We had that happen before.  The AC people should be able to determine if that’s the case and fix it.

Sounds like you need a new unit.  We just replaced ours.
