Stacia
I need to find a present for my nephew. He's 4.5yo & loves to build things. I don't want to get a Lego set because they've already got a lot of those. Any toy ideas (preferably in a $20 to $40 range)? Ideas other than building sets would also be appreciated. Thanks! Carol in Cal.
He'll use those forever. Buy as many as you can afford...it's impossible to have too many of these.

Desert Rat
How about K'nex? They're great fun. I recently say Sesame Street themed kits for under $10 at Walmart. There are 2 sizes so look for the bigger ones. They are like plastic tinkertoys, very durable. Magnetix also makes large ones for little hands. Wooden blocks are always a favorite around here too. Guest Lorna
He'll use those forever. Buy as many as you can afford...it's impossible to have too many of these. :iagree: This is what our 11 year old did with them last week, but they are equally wonderful for 4 year olds. Denise in IN
I would suggest the Kapla blocks/Keva planks as well. My 4 1/2 yo son really likes them.

Sandra in NC
Kapla blocks are simple and don't look very exciting at first. In the hands of a creative builder, however, they're amazing!
