Anyone else fasting for Yom Kippur?

I don't do it every year, but I'm doing it this year. Was curious if anyone else was doing so, too :-).

Here’s my question: Were you raised with shower or no shower?

I was always told no shower, no tooth brushing, etc, but BF’s family has literally never heard of that.

I never really did it as a kid, so I am not sure!! I've always showered, anyway.

My dd13 fasted successfully for the second time this year after her bat mitzvah. I was so nervous for her as this year was significantly different. Last year she stayed at the synagogue all day with two friends and they fasted together. Fasting at home with virtual services isn't quite the same but she did it.  It makes me a little teary that she is so grown up.

Our rabbi mentioned no toothbrushing yesterday and dh (son of shomer shabbat conservative rabbi) said if he didn't brush his teeth he would be distracted from repenting all day by his bad breath. Lol 😉
