alisoncooks
I have bought and returned a dozen pairs of boots in the last 2 months. I currently have a pair of Chaco's Barbary on the way (fingers crossed they work) https://www.chacos.com/US/en/barbary/22325W.html?dwvar_22325W_color=JCH199800#cgid=boots-men-women&start=1 but I was really hoping for something waterproof. I've also tried endless variations of the duck boot but most can't tighten enough at the ankle to keep my heel from slipping. I did recently get these (super cheap on Amazon!) so maybe I don't need waterproof: https://www.dsw.com/en/us/product/jbu-by-jambu-gwen-rain-shoe/456184 The older I get, the colder I get. Also, the older I get, the more finicky my feet become. Is there such a thing as a really comfy, casual, warm boot? (And it doesn't really get cold here...teens are the absolute bitterest cold we get in winter. Maybe average temp in the upper 30s for winter?) But I'm talking I want Crocs level comfort...so maybe a hiking boot? Or sneaker boot? I love the look of chukkas, too. Suggestions?? Pen
I have an LlBean shearling lined boot that is like a less expensive version of an Ugg. They are very cozy, warm, but don’t tighten. I’m not sure they are still available, but somewhere , maybe Ugg itself, would probably still have something like that. I use a pair of Altra high tops with waterproof outside (basically is a sneaker boot and lace tighten however I want) as my most often used outdoor shoe in winter for past two years... They are warmish if fitted over and worn with Merino wool socks. The Altras are zero drop foot shape , take getting used to, but now best for my aging feet and joints. I have used Bog and Muck boots in past, but they started hurting my legs. ”Tactical boots” especially insulated for winter and ones that adjust with laces however you want, but then have zippers for easy on off is another option. We have used waterproof SWAT company ones, and there are lots similar (some waterproof some not, some with zippers some not, different heights, ... usually black only occasionally army tan).
Pen
Last winter I got gaiters to go with the Altras if I need rain/snow protection higher up my leg. But not Altra Gaiters which we’re too short still.
Pen
Cozy but not much support to really walk in much: FEETCITY Women's Suede Cotton Flat Sneakers Winter Warm Snow Boots Black 9.5 Women/8 Men https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07G3BDNJ3/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_bNw1DbN08RS1A

mmasc
After trying on *dozens* of boots last year and this year, I’ve settled on these and have been very happy with them. I’ve been wearing them for about two months already. Unfortunately, they’re an old style and limited in sizes. FYI, I wear a 7.5 or 8 always, and had to get them in an 8.5. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00Q7RII5Y?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_image i also bought these but haven’t actually worn them yet, so I’m not sure about comfort level once put to the test. They seem better for snow, so I’m saving them for later in the winter https://www.sorel.com/womens-sorel-explorer-joan-boot-1808061.html?dwvar_1808061_variationSize=7.5&dwvar_1808061_variationColor=225&ef_id=EAIaIQobChMIgYW3g6H55QIVTP_jBx2SdAhuEAQYASABEgJuRPD_BwE:G:s&mid=paidsearch&eid=Google+PLA+US&s_kwcid=AL!3937!3!206015581908!!!g!824704562533!&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIgYW3g6H55QIVTP_jBx2SdAhuEAQYASABEgJuRPD_BwE I *almost* bought these because they were comfy and sneaker-like, but went with the Columbia ones just bc we get snow and I needed taller, so you might could check them out too. They feel warm and very much like a sneaker and not a heavy boot. https://www.zappos.com/p/sorel-whitney-short-lace-black/product/8895483/color/3
catz
Uggs are great, but hey do not have alot of support for walking long distances, etc. I think if you used inserts in them, they might be better. But they are my coziest warmest most comfortable pair of boots. They aren't great for wet conditions though.

My UGG knee high boots and North Face ankle boots are snug at the ankle. So snug that I can’t wear thick socks. My ankle circumference (measuring at my ankle’s thickest part) is 21.5cm though.
Arcadia
Hunter boots paired with winter socks are good too. My Timberland ankle boots are snug and similar to the Chaco Barbary you linked. They are great for walking in mud. https://www.timberland.com/shop/womens-nellie-chukka-double-waterproof-boots-blue-23311484 I have the Timberland classic boots as well.

I have a pair of Sanuk boots that are similar in style to uggs but they make my feet fatigued. (Flat sole, my heel slips). I'm assuming uggs would feel the same.... https://www.amazon.com/Sanuk-Womens-Toasty-Tails-Short/dp/B01BDHZCEC
