mathnerd
This shrub is planted in a strip mall and I see it in bloom all spring, summer and fall (yellow, bell shaped flowers). What is the name of this plant? Any help is appreciated. Thanks! Edited July 25, 2019 by mathnerd
Innisfree
It's an Abutilon. Not sure which species or variety. They're pretty, aren't they? 1
mathnerd
Wow! That was quick! Thank you! They are pretty and I have been eyeing it for years now without knowing how to get one for my yard. I will check at my local nursery for Abutilon.
Innisfree
If they're hardy for you, I'm jealous. I've never lived where they didn't need a greenhouse to get through the winter. Have fun!

desertflower
There is a free app that identifies plants. Called plantnet. From Stanford I think. It's very useful.

If I wasn;t in a sleep study when you posted this, I also would have answered immediately since I like them too.
Innisfree
I had to look up 'Canary Bird', just out of curiosity, and found it at Plant Delights nursery. They list it as hardy to zone 7b, so maybe I can grow this one outside. We're kind of borderline 7b. Something to put on the list for next spring.

I have found that it is all about creating micro climates for growing plants in borderline zones. So, maybe you could try it in a protected area? mathnerd
I was able to find out exactly what variety if abutilon is in the picture. The local nursery people told me that the one in my original post is called "Lemon Drop" Abutilon. They are available by special order locally. https://www.suncrestnurseries.com/sunintros_show.php?id=abutlemd
