Job Shadowing

My son is  having trouble finding a job shadowing opportunity (he’s in brick and mortar school currently, and it’s a requirement). He wanted something in real estate, law enforcement, or “finance”. His teacher tried for him, and also didn’t succeed.

Suggestions of places to try would be appreciated.  Apparently there are problems in these fields due to safety and/or confidentiality. He is under 18.

He is also supposed to spend a whole day and would like it to be interesting.

Example trouble: An FBI office apparently will allow a “job shadow” but it seems that he would just sit all day doing nothing and seeing nothing much in an office chair because of the danger or confidentiality issues.   So far we haven’t found anything else in an area of interest that will even allow a shadow by an under 18yo.

Re law enforcement - could he shadow a judge? Open court should not have any confidentiality issues (unless juveniles?)?

Can he do a ride along with a police officer? How about shadowing someone in the dispatch office?

Finance - could he shadow a banker? Retirement investment person?

He wants something that doesn’t necessarily require college.

They required being 18yo.

Maybe.  I’ll ask.

Those would be excellent. Any ideas on How one might find someone willing?

One problem seems to be that University students seem to have programs that get priority for such positions— at least is what I found so far.

I put in an enquiry with Chamber of Commerce.
