Scarlett
Did anyone hear the show today where a researcher of some sort was discussing lack of sleep and how it affects so many things? Like, obesity, intelligence....I was on my lunch hour and only heard a few minutes of it and now I can't find anything about it.
HeartString
I didn't hear it, but you should be able to check the website for your local station to see which show was playing at that time and check that shows website. Some of the bigger shows are put out in podcast form, you might be able to listen to the whole thing that way.
PrincessMommy
There's a lot of evidence linking sleep deprivation to much of what you've written. Just Google. I can't find the show you're referring to at the npr website. Do you know which particular show was airing (Fresh Air, ATC, etc.?)
Scarlett
I did check the local site and it said what I knew.....that the 12:00 slot is Common Wealth Club....but this didnt sound like that show. I don't know. Doesn't matter, but I wanted to hear the whole thing.
Bluegoat
You could always email NPR and ask. Radio stations get a lot of those kinds of inquiries.
Butter
Interesting. My dad had cancer and finished his chemo almost two years ago. Ever since he's been unable to sleep more than a couple hours at a time or put on weight. He got a new oncologist when they moved here and she told him the lack of sleep is part of the cause of his inability to gain weight which is part of the cause of his lack of sleep so it's a vicious cycle. Sleep affects so incredibly much.
Word Nerd
Maybe your local station re-aired an older story? This one sounds similar.
Scarlett
Thanks all. I guess I will let it go, I am just usually able to find stuff on NPR when I catch a portion of the show. I am very interested in this topic.

My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer while she was taking hormones for hot flashes which kept her awake without the hormones. .....they told her she could never take hormones again.. They prescribed adavan to help her sleep. 14 years later she still takes 1 mg of adivan every night.. Sleep is VERY important.
