mamakelly
My 3rd grader is still so messy with his handwriting, when using typical wide rule paper. I grabbed the pad of 3 lines and his writing instantly improved. Do you think he's too old to be writing on the 3 lines paper?
mamamoose
Not at all.
Tohru
Nope, not too old
ScoutTN
That is fine. My 9yo 3rd grade Ds uses the HWT paper with two lines - the baseline and the midline. Any paper with the midline is so helpful.
luuknam
My 9yo/4th grader (August birthday) uses any paper, really - blank and college ruled being the most common (I'm not sure why I don't have wide ruled, other than it's harder to find pretty notebooks with it - I think maybe he was worse with wide ruled? I don't remember). But, if your kid could benefit from 3 lines, then get him 3 lines.
Alexigail
We still used it I 3rd grade. At that point I also did some remedial handwriting to get the messiness under control. I. So glad I did because he improved a lot.
KristaJ
My 8yo 3rd grader is still transitioning to wide ruled paper. If the paper with three lines is helpful, stick with it until he is ready for wide ruled paper.
SKL
Whatever works. :) Neither of my kids observed the lines regardless, so I ditched the special paper well before they were 9. :) They have used regular wide rule notebook paper. They do write a bit too large for it, though. I figure time will fix that.
Guest
We had stopped using three lined paper, but went back for cursive. Amazon sells big packs if it in loose-leaf form. Eta nine years old and not even close to ready for regular ruled, if I want to read it. Edited January 12, 2017 by OKBud
Julie of KY
Use the paper that your child NEEDS and then work toward smaller handwriting. My fourth grader is still using paper intended for first graders.
wathe
My 9yo still needs special paper. We're using the handwriting without tears notebook paper. It makes a huge difference for him.

I buy the huge packs of loose leaf handwriting paper and use a three hole punch so I can load it in their binders. It's cheaper (but harder to find) than getting a bunch of the little composition notebooks.
