EmmaNZ
She is a competent reader. She enjoys reading about family life and her most favourite books so far have been 'All of a Kind Family' series by Sydney Taylor. She told me she wants something to read that she doesn't have to try too hard - just for fun. Any thoughts please?
Southern Ivy
I loved Caddie Woodlawn at that age. It deals with family on the frontier.
EmmaNZ
Thanks! She's read that, but that's exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for

Farrar
All of a Kind Family suggests to me she'd probably love both The Penderwicks and the Melendys (The Saturdays series).

Tanaqui
You might also try The Misadventures of the Family Fletcher How Tia Lola Came to Stay One Crazy Summer (touches on some more serious issues) Honestly, I usually am more on the ball when it comes to booklists, but my brain is utterly fried until next week when we hand in our high school application at the homeschool office. IN PERSON, no way am I trusting that to the vagaries of the USPS.

J-rap
She will love the Betsy-Tacy series! The reading level of them gets harder as the character gets older, so at some point she may lose interest until she gets a little older. But the first half of them at least should be fine. Sweetest series! My girls' favorite. (In fact, the first few books might even feel a little young, but you have to start with them to get to know the characters. :)) Edited November 17, 2016 by J-rap
