Prairie~Phlox
On how to tell my kids? It's going to be 1 of their gifts, I already know which ones I plan to get & want to use magazines.com for the order. Thanks.
happi duck
I usually give a physical issue with a note that their subscription will start soon. Then I order the subscription right before or right after giving the gift so that it doesn't start arriving too soon and spoil the surprise.
73349
We've found that a lot of subscriptions don't start for two or even three months after ordering, so I'd order immediately and plan to give a newsstand-bought issue and a note if it's for Christmas.
zoobie
They have a huge Black Friday/cyber Monday sale, which combined with ebates is usually when I buy. I either do a physical copy or make up my own gift certificate.

Lanny
If you are subscribing to magazines that are published monthly, it will probably be approximately 6 to 8 weeks, possibly more, before the first issue is delivered. It depends on when the magazine receives your order from the magazine subscription company.
Miss Tick
At least if you are giving them to your own kids you could, in theory, intercept any early issues and wrap them!
Prairie~Phlox
At least if you are giving them to your own kids you could, in theory, intercept any early issues and wrap them! A lot of times they beat me to getting the mail, so I'm leary of this, I think I'll wait until Black Friday.
Guest
I ordered my youngest a Nat Geo Kids subscription off of Amazon for Xmas and it was here in less than a week, even though it said 6-12 weeks for first issue! We got the second issue the following week. I am saving them to put in her stocking.
happi duck
I just remembered something. When my sister gives subscriptions she finds a little gift that fits the theme of the magazine and wraps that with the subscription announcement.
