Bev in B'ville
is a new social group for those of us who are of a conservative mindset. You know who you are Reagan Rebel Rousers. It is a private group (by invitation only), so please pm me if you'd like to join. I created this group in order to discuss logically and with a conservative mindset the character, moral values, and propensity of those being elected or currently elected to public office. I also suggest that those leaning towards the more liberal/socialist side do the same. This will greatly eliminate many heads banging against the wall for both sides. This may not eliminate entirely some of the more...inflammatory posts on the general board, but it's a start.

laylamcb
Hi, Bev: I'm interested, but...what does "go green" mean? Is this a conservative joke that I should get? :D ETA: I should add that I'm incredible DENSE when it comes to jokes and plays on words. Very sad. So please--go easy on me if I'm just not getting something very obvious....
beansprouts
...and what's with putting us in a "Social" group? You know I'm not into social programs...

Jenny in Atl
Where should someone like me go? I'm not ultra right wing, but I'm also far from a left leaning socialist. Maybe I can start a big "L" libertarians and other third party rejects social group. ;)
Mama Lynx
If I started a Conservative Pagans group, would there be anyone in it but me?

Bev in B'ville
the responses have been overwhelming. I'm getting to them as fast as I can. I've also emptied my mailbox three times today to make room for everyone, so if you get the mailbox full message, please try again. Jumping In Puddles
Instead of having people pm you, they could leave a message on your Visitor Message page? This worked well for the RSVP for Susan's NJ meetup.
elizabeth
"also suggest that those leaning towards the more liberal/socialist side do the same" Uhmmm they are not the same thing at all. Not even close- to suggest they are interchangeable or even closely related speaks volumes. How sad that people would rather splinter off into those only with the same mindset and worldview never to be challenged to see things from another point of view. I for one would consider it a waste of time to only converse with those who agree with my understanding of the world.

I for one would consider it a waste of time to only converse with those who agree with my understanding of the world. I have to disagree with this. There are some concerns I have with my canidate and his running mate. I would NEVER bring it to the GB because of how it would go with people who strongly dislike (and even hate) said canidate. I would like to know what other like minded individuals feel and get a nice conversation going, not a bash fest.
Bev in B'ville
Instead of having people pm you, they could leave a message on your Visitor Message page? This worked well for the RSVP for Susan's NJ meetup. but, I do know of some people I correspond with via PM who would not want their political leanings "out." PM'ing is the only way I know of to protect their privacy. Good suggestion, though. Bev

I for one would consider it a waste of time to only converse with those who agree with my understanding of the world. I meant liberal/socialist/communist/green/constituionalist/spongebob and any other political sides or groups. And, for the record, nationalized medicine (or anything else) is a socialist concept. It's never a waste of time for people of intelligence to share their viewpoints. The Socratic Method has been used for many a year very successfully. The Socratic Method does not involve "bashing" (candidates, different social classes, etc.), pleads of "fairness," or pleads based on emotions. I could go on, but I won't. Please don't party crash this thread for your own purposes. This thread is and was strictly an announcement for conservative minded individuals. elizabeth
I am not attempting to party crash merely curious as to why liberal/socialist was the mentioned alternative to a conservative board?? For that matter, perhaps I am an economic conservative and a social liberal . Stranger things have happened. I have certainly not "bashed "a candidate or party on these boards rather I have limited myself to thoughtful ponderings based on the law if it pertains and on several sources for articles certainly not Huffington Post or the like to defend my party when I believed it was being unfairly attacked based on dubious "news" sources. As a lawyer and philosophy student for most of my adult life I have no idea what socratic dialogue would look like in a forum with no facilitator. If you mean respectful disagreement I feel that those standards have been observed by many here and it has been interesting indeed. I in no way meant to party crash your thread but when the only alternative to the label conservative in whatever way that word is being used, is the label liberal/socialist it is not unlikely that others were befuddled by the lumping of those two concepts together. When liberal or conservative is used as a "dirty" word all discourse becomes a wasted effort in my opinion.
laylamcb
I PM'ed you. Bev Sorry' date=' Bev! I've still got tons of, ahem, teA PMs. :D I'll get to that ASAP. Where should someone like me go? I'd call myself a Crunchy Con; I just don't "fit" a lot of the time.... Will it be OK if I don't agree with everything you dyed-in-the-wool conservatives believe, as long as I don't mock you? (I never mock. :001_smile:)
ma23peas
I'm thrilled for a group where I can go and discuss politically conservative issues...we might actually solve some things and do something constructive with our time! :) It gets pretty muddy out there to try and post a conservative concern....Look forward to sharing ideas!! Thanks!! Tara One of my favorite quotes from Ronald Reagan.."Don't let the turkeys get you down" ...I used that in so many facets of my life..
