Painting/ Mildew Question

I have an unpainted/unstained wood windowsill that has had a problem with mildew.  I have cleaned the windowsill with a bleach/water mixture per instructions from the internet.  There are still some black stains remaining.  I'm thinking of just painting over it all with an enamel paint (because I already happen to have some) once it is completely dry.  Good idea?  Bad?  Reasons why?

Try to clean it with borax dissolved in water - and let it dry naturally. In my case, it took away the mildew stain.

If that does not work, I think that you can coat it with a primer that has anti-mildew properties (e.g. Zinnser Mold killing primer) and then paint on top of it.

I am a BIG fan of Zinnser!
