I have a friend in Texas who had to drive 10 miles away from her home to be able to use her cell phone. Depending on where she is, she may be with out phone for up to 2 weeks or more. My friend has power but no phone or internet. She was told by Verizon it would be at least two week before they are able to get their phones back up and running.
