Country Girl
Does anyone in your family use a balance board? I just learned about these today, and think my dd would have a lot of fun with one, but I'm not sure if the novelty would wear off quickly. If anyone in your family has one, what can you tell me about it? Is it something they have continued to enjoy for a while? How hard is it to get the hang of? Do you have a certain one or brand you recommend? I've been looking at the ones made by Vewdo (https://www.vewdo.com), but am open to suggestions. Thanks! Dmmetler
We have an ancient Bongo board It's one of the only toys DH kept into adulthood, and still uses it occasionally. It's worn down enough now in the center that it makes it a bit harder-the groove doesn't always stay centered, so you have to balance front/back as well as side to side. It's also been good for DD's sensory work.
Desert Strawberry
I have played with them. They are super fun! We've put together makeshift ones for the kids. They like them, but ours have been so unstable as to be quite dangerous. I ordered this one for Christmas. http://www.amazon.com/ALEX-Toys-Active-Monkey-Balance/dp/B000N40SDC I'm thinking it will be a good start, and then we'll add a wobble board as well. They are GREAT for sensory therapy.
Pawz4me
They are GREAT for sensory therapy. Yes! Youngest DS needed some OT when he was young, and his therapist recommended a wobble cushion. The more air you add the more challenging it is. I'd have DS balance on it and we'd toss a ball back and forth. He loved it!
Miss Tick
We have a round one (J Fit, I think) that lives near the school table and gets pulled out occasionally. No one has mastered it yet.

Country Girl
Thanks everyone. I think they look like lots of fun, so I may be projecting my preferences on to dd, but I think she'd enjoy it too. I'm going to try to talk dh into getting her one for Christmas. kathkath
We have one like the bongo one and everyone loves it, adults and neighbor kids included. Sometimes I have to hide it from neighbors bc it makes me nervous. You don't want to be hit in the shin by a novice.
