PrincessMommy
I have a refurbished Samsung Galaxy II that I've had less than year. It stopped taking a charge over the weekend. I tried more than one charger, so I assumed it was the connector. Took it into a shop (which was a pain to get to), and they told me that it's not worth it to fix the connector.. they sold me a battery charger that plugs into the wall. I've let it charge for about 3hrs, but the phone shows no charge. :cursing: :crying: . What would I do to try and figure out what's the matter? Is it even worth it to try and figure out anyway? The exact same phone is $150 at my carrier. I guess I just hate the idea of throwing it away. It just seems like such a waste.
Tap
Did they say how they knew it was the connector and not the battery itself?
LucyStoner
I'd try a new battery if possible.
flyingiguana
Have you taken out the battery and put it back in again? Sometimes that resets things. It's cheap enough to be worth a try, anyway.
abacus2
My phone has a software flaw where it sometimes doesn't charge when plugged in. A few times I have had to pull the battery to reset it. It seems more likely to happen when the battery is already low when I plug it in. Now I check to see that the symbol changes to active charging after I plug it in. If it doesn't, a restart usually resolves the issue. I don't trust the shop. If your connector was actually bad, a different charger wouldn't fix the problem. PrairieSong
My dh's Galaxy screen would not come on at all. He had charged it all night. He took out the battery and put it back in, and voila! It worked. It might be worth a try.
PrincessMommy
Yes, I've tried both a new battery I had here on hand and taking out the old one and putting it back in. I told them I suspected it was the connector. They said it wasn't worth it to fix the connector and sold me a wall batter charger. They never diagnosed it - so yeah, I don't trust them either. Since I was here last I found two places MUCH closer to me (not sure how I missed them the first time). I'm going to try to go to one tomorrow and see what they sy.
