Chris in VA
I think he was Japanese. It's not anyone on the website that lists 20 Top Japanese Superheros. It's driving me crazy. It was a cheesy show that came on after school in the 70s, not a cartoon. Johnny Somebody? (Prob nothing like that--arrrgh--can't remember)

Chris in VA
ah--my buddies on FB came thru--it was Johnny Sokko! Thanks anyway! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=POsk1y68avo
Cinder
I'm not familiar with that one. As kids we were big fans of Kikaida. We also watched a lot of Rainbowman and Diamond Eye. And Robocon, but he wasn't really a superhero IIRC. Summary here. Have you been reading Ready Player One? Ds and I really enjoyed that book. I liked the audiobook as well. elegantlion
Johnny Sokko was one of my favorite shows. I've honestly been afraid to watch it again, in case it was just childhood fantasy that it wasn't horrible.
Jamee
My son LOVES Ultraman! Glad you got you answer. (the shows are available on Hulu.)
Seasider
I remember dashing home from school just in time to watch Ultraman and Speed Racer!
Seasider
Was Jonny Sokko the kid who battled monsters and sometimes befriended them? If so, I think I remember him, too.
