carriede
So I slammed my thumb in my car door. I went to the orthopedic to make sure it wasn't broken (it wasn't). I just got a letter from my health insurance... Since the doctor filed my appointment as "accident", the insurance co wants to clarify the events surrounding the accident. Among other questions, the survey specifically asks if the injury was the result of a "motor vehicle accident". Well... It WAS a car door. The car was turned off and parked in my garage. Do you all consider this a motor vehicle accident?
Melissa in Australia
I wouldn't. I would consider it an accident with a door.
linders
No.
ThisIsTheDay
No, that is not a motor vehicle accident, and (sadly for your insurance company) your injuries will not be covered by your auto policy. Insurance is crazy, isn't it?
carriede
That's what I was thinking but I wanted to be sure I understood the meaning. Thanks!!!
MedicMom
It depends on where you live. In NY that WOULD be covered under NY no-fault. Any accident involving a vehicle, even just slamming your hand in the door, falls under no fault and is paid by the car insurance.

zoobie
Nope. Just write that you slammed your hand in the door. :)
Donna
Not a motor vehicle accident.
Venia
I definitely would not want my car insurance premium to increase over a sore thumb! Id just tell them a "door" and leave it at that.
DianeW88
Nope. Just say you slammed your hand in a door. Don't even say "car door".
