JFSinIL
I toss a tablespoon of them into bread dough, a lesser amount into muffins, pancakes, etc.
Rose in BC
Ground. I also add it to my baking. Probably replacing 1/2 cup of flour with it in a 3 -4 cup recipe. Muffins. Bread. etc.
Rose in BC
Ground. I also add it to my baking. Probably replacing 1/2 cup of flour with it in a 3 -4 cup recipe. Muffins. Bread. etc. What I meant to say is I would replace 1/2 cup of flour with 1/2 of ground flaxseed in a recipe that calls for 3 - 4 cups flour. OnTheBrink
Grind them before tossing them into batter, etc, otherwise, they just "travel through" iykwim. I put a tablespoon of ground flax seed in my breakfast smoothie, as well as add it to breads.

Tracy in Ky
Coffee grinder! Works like a charm. To clean it, just whiz a little bread in there. You can put ground flax in just about everything.
OnTheBrink
I grind mine in a coffee grinder. Just a little electric Braun coffee grinder.
MicheleB
I use my blender to grind them. Works well. I freeze them after I grind them, if I'm not using them right away because the ground ones go bad faster. I also use flax seed to replace up to half the oil in a recipe. Works pretty well and tastes fine. :)

Tina
I bought a little coffee grinder just for my flax seed. Works great. Someone on here shared a to-die-for pumpkin muffin that had flaxseed a couple years ago. Here's something to start with! :) 1 c flour 3/4 c ww flour 1 tsp baking powder 1 tsp baking soda 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp cinnamon 1/4 tsp nutmeg 3/4 c flax meal 2 eggs, slightly beaten 1 c pumpkin 1/4 c oil 1/2 c honey 1/3 c water 1/2 c chopped walnuts 1 c mini chocolate chips or cranberries, chopped apples or ? Combine dry ingredients. Combine wet ingredients, then stir into dry ingredients til just combined. Stir in nuts and chocolate chips (or other). Fill lined cups 3/4 or so full for 15 regular size muffins. I use the large Pampered Chef scoop close to level and get 2 dozen muffins. Bake at 350* for 20-25 minutes. Last time I tried to make cookies the result was tiny baseballs...:glare: maybe too much flour? I haven't tried since then! Anyway my question is, can I use the above recipe to make pumpkin bread or cake? Thanks!~
