musicianmom
Dd8 is on a minimalist kick. She is actually embarrassed about how many dolls she has. She's not into clothes very much yet, she got her Kindle last year and loves it more than anything. I'm not ready for her to have a tablet yet, and she says she's not ready for an iPod yet. I'd like to get her a big special gift, but can't think of what. Ideas?
happi duck
A family membership to a place she loves?
ChristusG
A pet? Maybe a dwarf hamster or hermit crab? Rainbow loom and lots of bands? With an instructional book maybe. New bedroom decor.... Paint it, new bed linens, posters or artwork for the walls. Enough Amazon gift cards to last her all year for her Kindle. Special day out.... Buy gift cards for her favorite restaurant, a fun place to go, ice cream place, and shopping..... Take her on a day out after Christmas. Membership to a favorite place? Dmmetler
Does she have an animal or a charity she'd like to support? Many of them are really, really great at sending nice information packets to their supporters, especially children.
bagel270
We do some practical gifts. The boys get a tool box and tools, pocket knives, duct tape. My girl gets baking equipment, special pans, sewing stuff, but she gets duct tape too.
Mandylubug
My 8yo DDs asked for baking pans, mixing bowls, spoons and mixes for cookies and brownies, muffins, etc. They also are on a hand embroidery kick. They love painting on canvas.

dancingmama
An event of some sort. One year for her birthday my daughter went to American Girl with me, a football game with her daddy, and her brother "took" her to the ballet (obviously on different days). That was the entirety of her gift and she loved it. She did buy an AG while at AGP but with her own saved money. The gift was the one-on-one time to a special place. :)
