Moxie
Why does FB overwhelm me so?!? I have brought 5 babies home from the hospital and kept them alive--surely, I'm smart enough to figure out FB, right??? I joined probably 5 years ago, 'friended' everyone (way too many people) I went to high school with and then never went back. Now there are a couple groups I want to join so I need to get back on there and figure it out. I don't want to delete my high school friends but I don't really need them to know what groups I'm in, etc. So that's what I'm doing today. Ottakee
Find a helpful teenager and they will have you all set up in a few minutes.
KungFuPanda
If you never post on FB, the fact that you unfriended someone will likely go unnoticed. I say delete with abandon before you start posting again and come up on anyone's radar.
MAIMOM
I agree with KingFu Panda....delete as many as you want before you post or join. It will probably not be noticed, your friends are not used to seeing you on anyway. If anyone does notice they may just send you another friend request. I deleted almost everyone once....I only had one or two ask about it.
milovany
Agreeing with the above. The way FB is now, I think if you join some groups, anyone who is your FB friend will be able to see that. I deleted all my FB friends 2-3 years ago and only added back my two sisters and son. That's it. I use it JUST for the groups, and for messaging. PrincessMommy
I've been debating rejoining FB and changing the way I originally did it too. I am wondering what has changed about groups though. Before they didn't seem to provide anything other than showing your friends which types of groups you joined. Is there more interaction in the groups?
Kathryn
They're like the social groups here, but there are three levels: public (everyone can see the group exists and everything on it), private, (everyone can see the group exists but not what's inside it), and secret (nobody but members can even see the group exists). Just one minor correction -- with a "closed" group (aka "private"), people can see that the group exists AND who's in it. That might matter to some folks who don't want others to know what groups they're in. I *don't* think these closed groups show up in one's profile but I'm not sure on that. milovany
Right, it's not the case with secret groups. The WTM EO group is secret, and only folks active in the group here are admitted there (we can't add our own FB friends, for example). It's a little busier there than here, but not too much so.
