NancyNellen
My son recently received a packet in the mail congratulating him on his selection to attend the Careers in National Security: Diplomacy, Intelligence, and Defense program held at George Mason University next spring. We did not apply and we know no one who has ever even heard of it in real life. It is run by Envision. Does anyone here have any experience with this particular program? Ever heard anything about it? Thanks!

Belacqua
My kid got one of those about six months ago. It struck us as odd. Be prepared for them to send rather aggressive follow-up mailings if you choose not to respond.
AFwife Claire
Ha, my son got one of those for an engineering program, also run by Envision! It was expensive, so we threw the mailing away, LOL. It sounded to me like a resume-padder thing for rich kids.
Pawz4me
I don't remember that particular program, but oldest DS has received several similar mailings. They went right into the trash. None of them sounded to me like anything more than very expensive summer camps, just marketed differently.
Lanny
If your DS should happen to be interested in the possibility of one of those careers, he would probably do a lot better to begin on the web sites of the CIA, the DIA, and the State Department, and that won't cost him anything. Probably because GMU is so close to DC, they are promoting this seminar, as a way for GMU to make some money... Save your money...
